Description

This app was devised by Inverness Culloden Rotary Club in celebration of 100 years of Rotary in Inverness, in 2021. The app was funded by the Inverness Common Good Fund, Inverness City Historic Trust, Inverness Culloden Rotary Club, Riverside Rotary Club and Inverness Rotary Club.
By undertaking the walk, you will visit a number of Historic sites in the city and thus learn about the history of the city and its people.
To accompany the walk there is a booklet, entitled “Inverness City Historic Walk” which includes more information on the story of each site visited and is a worthy keepsake of your tour. Should you wish a more comprehensive book about the history of Inverness and the part played by its people in the slave trade then you should buy
“Inverness: Historic City and Highland Capital” by Duncan MacDonald.
We welcome feedback from your experience of the walk and you can access a feedback page through “Links” on the “Menu” page of this app.

Inverness City Historic Walk Reviews

Sorry to bear bad news

This is a piss poor app. Sitting in my hotel room in Inverness, I downloaded the app and thought “let’s go and explore!” So I go into the app and it offers me no overview, no historical background, but a list of numbers. Perhaps this is a game of bingo? So I try hitting 1 and it tells me (in microscopic font) to go to the castle. I cannot see a map of the walk, not read the text until I go there! Why? Hey guys, I just came from Kirkwall and they have a really nice app/ guide. Take a look and copy that Deleting the app

Really poor

As a local Invernessian I was keen to try this and really wanted it to be something that I could recommend to visitors but man how do you even start it? I stood in Castle St and it wouldn’t start. I tried other sites but no success. Why do these apps not get tested by locals with no prior involvement prior to release to iron out issues. And no way to feedback to the designers other than this platform. Really disappointing.
