It appears that Ubiquiti Aircam RTSP has been broken ......
I use it with two different IP cameras - An Axis M3005 which wasn't on the list of supported cameras but works perfectly when configured as a M1145, and a cheap (£45) SV3C 1080p dome which works perfectly configured with MJPEG stream. The cameras I have recording to a NAS, but the NAS brand (QNAP) CCTV viewer app is slow to open and then connect, requires multiple clicks to get to view cameras once opened, and it’s only compatible with phone/ipad. I wanted an app for AppleTV mainly but phone too, so I can view house cams on big screen if want. With this app, either via phone or AppleTV its super streamlined. No fussy interface to fumble about with, no user input to view cameras on default view other than opening the app. Cameras open almost instantly on app launch so its really useful for quick glancing at cameras when you want to check the door or see why security light has come on. For external viewing I don't bother port forwarding, I have VPN setup on phone so I turn that on before I open app to use remotely.
Principle is good but it simply kept crashing. Or if it did manage to not crash, just got continuous “connecting”, “connecting”, “connecting”, but never connected. In the end, gave it up as a bad job and asked for a refund which Apple did almost immediately. How can something so shoddy be published on the App Store. And at £6, it’s not that cheap especially when similar apps are free. Don’t waste your time or your money.
I have been trying to use this app to monitor 4 TRENDnet TV-IP31x cameras. These cameras aren't natively supported so I connect to their MJPEG RTSP streams. With one camera connected it appears to work ok, but adding more makes it start to crash, to the point where with 4 cameras added it runs for about 5-10 seconds before crashing. With H.264 it barely runs for 2 seconds and even with just 1 camera connected it crashes every few minutes. I reported the problems to the developer and initially they were quite responsive and asked for more details, but when I provided that detail they went quiet. I compared performance to a couple of other camera apps, which work much better but have poor UIs. VLC has no problem viewing my cameras in HD for hours at a time even over a VPN, so I can only assume this app has been badly written.
Have used this on both iPhone 4s and 6plus and it keeps crashing despite closing all apps before running. Also presets/infrared controls don't work on iRobot3/Panasonics. Good potential though and easy to setup
it opens & 4 windows are searching for connections. All the touch features did not respond. Deleted! May try again if other revues are favourable.
