Definitely needs help
I bought Plus today in hopes to install some yaml schema config files for other IME’s. The purchase itself was janky. Most of the text is in 簡體字 unfortunately. I tried installing third party yamls via iRime.custom.yaml. Fail. I tried via default.yaml. Fail. I tried installing yamls to root, user access folder, and sharedresource folder. Fail, fail, fail. I followed instructions from the in-app Guide folder, Minnanhua yaml on GitHub, and another on GitHub. Fail, fail, fail. I rebooted numerous times, hit the (utterly unexplained) “deploy” button, tried reinstalling the app. Fail, fail, fail. Now it will not boot even after a total wipe and reinstall. It just hangs on the setup wheel. Fail. The iRime app simply will not recognize custom schemas. If you want it to use the built in schemas, it will do those somewhat stably. But it will not allow installing new schemas. I’m leaving open the possibility that I’ve missed something. The documents are heavy on info about Rime yaml schema format, and quite nice for that. But for just “how to install a yaml schema and make it work”, the docs are very vague and obviously not apt. It’s a real shame. Rime is the best format for custom IME’s out there. People need it for lesser taught languages. But iRime, the app, simply isn’t there yet for user friendliness and basic function, evidently.
