This app is really cool. It is pretty accurate.
The app is great and it works fine, but I also have a suggestion. I was wondering if you guys would add a few more features to the app? For instance, could you add vice-versa language options (ie. English - Patois; Patois - English), picture translation, microphone, conversation translation, etc. Basically what Google Translator does, except they do not have the Patois language option.
Jamaican here. The translations this app provides aren’t very good. They’re often correct in a technical sense, but speaking or writing this way to a Jamaican would sound nonsensical to them, as it doesn’t account for natural tendencies of the language. It also doesn’t seem to follow any regional dialect I know of. (We have dialects just like any language—people in Kingston don’t talk the same as those in Westmoreland, for example.) Patwa doesn’t necessarily track to the English structure of subject/verb/object etc nearly as often as this translator suggests. The brevity of the quiz is strange. And many of the proverbs are not Jamaican in origin, and they read strangely in this app’s idea of Patwa. Overall, this app is a deceptive teacher of Patwa.
Pretty good!it works well!
