Love this app, but it needs the ability to turn off furigana: it interferes with the ability to look up words, which is one of the main problems with the Gospel Library Japanese Scriptures. I understand that if the church still hasn’t done it, it’ll likely be difficult to do it yourself, but it’s 100% the next step. Perhaps, if that’s not doable, you can apply tags to all the words so we can just tap on them and it’ll show a dictionary entry for each word. It would be very nice to be able to see what is what type of speech more easily like you see in TODAI’s “Easy Japanese News” App
Also, how do we send feature requests? Since the app used text to voice software, could you highlight what ever words are being spoken? That would make it a lot easier to follow along, especially for beginners
Very helpful app
It didn’t let me tap a star, but I would choose five stars. I really like using this to study Japanese and the Book of Mormon and it’s so helpful in classes. My only suggestion would be to allow people to choose which language goes first. I would prefer to see/hear the English first, and then the Japanese. If you could allow us to choose which goes first that would be really helpful.
Great App
I love the side by side English-Japanese and the audio. Make sure your phone isn’t on silent mode or it might not play. Easy to use too.
How come I didn’t find this app until now?!!!
Thank you so much! I am a missionary studying Japanese, and I had been trying to find a good Japanese/English Bible with furigana since I still struggle with kanji. I almost bought a $30dll Japanese Bible just because it had furigana, but then I found this app! The fact that it has also other religious books makes it even better since I also like studying about other religions. I wish I could give you more than 5 stars, I hope to see more books added to this app such in the future I’d definitely buy them!
Again, thank you!
Great App
This is really a great app. I’ve been using it for over a year and just recently made the in app purchase just to support you. I want to keep you improving the app. Really good job.
One feature request if I may. I can read 80 to 90% of the Kanji characters but sometimes I am really distracted by the furigana. On the other hand, sometimes I need the furigana too. It would be really nice if you had a toggle like you do for the English, to be able to turn on and off the furigana. You could put it in the top left corner like the English toggle, or you could make it a floating toggle like the text to voice toggle. Thx for the great app. よろしくお願いします。
Incredible app for dual language scriptures
This app is well laid and thought out and brings the whole standard works for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints together in both English and Japanese. I love the ability to have both languages on the screen together! This app just works!
Best Japanese app
It has furi gana over the kanji and the new zoom pinch function is great!!
Great App. Works Flawlessly
Thank you for such a wonderful app. Help cut down prep time for lessons.
Great find!!!
This app is so great!. I was a missionary in Japan 25 years ago, and I want to start working on reading the Scriptures in Japanese. I love that the English version for each verse is right below, and that the Old and New Testaments are included!. Thank you so much! And it has furigana. Most online Bibles and apps do not. Love it!
Great resource for Japanese/English learners!
I am native English speaker, and Japanese N2 level (college learned). I did not grow up in the Church, so religious terminology is harder for me, so I like this program a lot. If I could ask for a few features, it would be : 1. A way to send new vocabulary to a dictionary program so I can save words for later review and to understand the meaning. To go along with this, if I could press and hold a word to get the meaning of the word, that would be pretty nice, too. 2. If other church resources could be added, particularly the Young Men / Young Women “Come Follow Me” and Sunday School Gospel Doctrine. Today, in class, I use the LDS Library app on my iPhone in Japanese, and my iPad on English to quickly read and understand in English, and then refer to the Japanese to pick up a few words to comment in class (we attend a Japanese ward). 3. For reading practice, maybe a way to turn off the ateji (kana above the kanji) to cut and paste the scripture into talks or PowerPoints, etc. I love the adjustable text sizing, the ability to turn on night mode, simple way to turn English on/off. Okada-kyoudai, thank you for doing this (from The Senri Ward)!
