Java Compiler IDE

Programming, Coding, JDK, JVM

Published by: Marcin Olawski

Description

Pico Compiler is a lightweight development environment for writing Java programs.
Key features:
• Java 9 offline compiler
• Developer keyboard - Developer keyboard adds a new row of keys to the default on-screen keyboard. It consists of swipe buttons with all common symbols, punctuation and brackets, and a special navigation key.
• Smart code completion - Pico will complete the names of classes, methods, fields, and keywords within the visibility scope. When you invoke code completion, Pico Compiler analyses the context and suggests the choices that are reachable from the current position of the caret.
• Black UI theme - protect your eyes with the dark theme.
The app is designed as an educational tool and cannot be used to develop complex projects (Spring, Hibernate, Java EE etc). Visit project website at https://www.marcinolawski.pl/pico/ to learn all Pico features and limitations.

Java Compiler IDE Reviews

How to refund?

JohhnyXiao on

Bought pro thought it would be great for iPad coding. Makes no difference not even match the free peer compilers. Wasted 2 pounds . Demand a refund!

Misleading

Why have a free version if you can’t even test your own code? Was really looking forward to seeing what this app could do, but I’m not going to consider buying now because I have no clue what I can and can not program on this app.

Don’t Know if Good - Can’t Test

The app is a free download, but you can’t do anything with it until you pay. Seems pointless to be free.

INCREIBLEEEEE!!!!

Don’t bother even downloading this app

Unless you have no java programming skills and are wanting to know the very basics and I mean VERY basics then it’s not even worth downloading this app as you cannot write your own code, personally I think it’s false advertising as the app is advertised as a way of writing java code on your iPhone and compiling it right there on your phone but if you can’t even write the code in the first place there is no point to this app. If I could have given it less stars I would have as I don’t think it’s even worth 1 star at this point!

Awful

Requires you to have a pro in order to compile or write anything. I don’t see the point of a free version. He could’ve do a payed version only. That would make more sense.

Do not waste your time or money

Downloaded to do some Java coding on my iPad Pro and paid for pro to get the extra features (different themes etc). Absolutely horrendous. Very user un-friendly and despite paying, none of the features were accessible. Thankfully Apple refunded but this is far from a good app and needs a lot of development to be usable.

No difference between free and pro

You should get this!

If you don't have a programming language app on your iOS device, why not get this one? If you do, why not get this one too? It's free (properly free: no adds, no in-app purchases); it won't take up much storage on your device; it's straightforward, in fact it's attractively simple; unlike some programming apps, it has a well-built file system where you can create and delete the files and folders you want; and—although it's quite new, so the developer is still ironing out the odd wrinkle—it works pretty reliably. Programming in Java using this app is easy, and fun, and educational, and useful. You won't be writing giant mega-applications on it: but you may find yourself writing little mini-apps (applets?—no, that's something else) that you'll actually use. If you've never programmed before, the Internet is overflowing with free resources to help you get started with Java. So, why not?
