July A/C

Ac unit looks nice but the app has a lot to improve. First, there needs to be a way to set c and f. You have to do this complicated set of steps on the unit. Second, they name it timer but I think it means schedule or when the unit turns and and off. Third, I couldn’t get it working with google home. I think the integration may only be Google assistant. Even in Google assistant, you can tell it to use a specific temperature. All in all, if you only use the unit, it’s good but if you use the app, it gives a different feeling of the product.

The app NEEDS dark mode. Especially when changing the settings/temp late at night I get blinded by the bright white backdrop. Also, HomeKit integration would’ve been nice. Yes, google and Alexa are great, but HomeKit is key for iOS users. Anyways, just my thought! The app should do more too…like maybe check the weather intelligently and shut your ac off if it’s too cold at night, or turn it on if it’s too hot. Idk. The whole July system just seems like it’s lacking a lot of smart features that I wish were there. Instead I just have a very expensive smart app remote for my ac 🥱🥱

Does what it needs to do!!!

The icons don’t align with the modes. I have to click on the snowflake icon which says “Dry” in order to get the physical screen on my a/c to move to “Cool” mode. The icon that should be used for Dry, which is a dehumidifier function, is actually labeled Auto, and the icon for Auto is labeled Cool. Sloppy design mistakes. This app doesn’t even do much else that control the a/c so this is really lazy.

At the time of this writing July 2022, the app hasn’t had an update in a year. The app doesn’t allow you to set the temperature in Fahrenheit, only in Celsius, which is confusing if you live in the US. The timer function is confusing to use, would be better if it had a countdown. Hopefully these issues will be resolved if/when the app gets updated. The app is cool because you can turn on and off the AC unit from your phone, but you can basically do the same thing from the included remote.

App feedback form isn’t working so here it goes: Alexa integration doesn’t work. Carefully reading instructions manual reveals that the eco-friendliness requires taking the vanity cover off, leaving nothing to hold up the air purifying filters you might’ve paid extra for. If you want a beautiful unit to complement your decor, go for it. But know that there’s quieter, smarter, actually eco-friendly models for equal or less price.

The July a/c app is ok for a first version as it works and is simple to set up and use for basic functions. But there are a lot of little issues that need ironing out: A confusing “timer” experience that has a lot of options but I’m not clear what I’m actually setting, I’m not sure what the “sleep” or “eco” modes do as it simply keeps the fan speed on whatever speed you set it to, and the Google Assistant integration seems broken. The hardware is a bit rough as well as it only works with thick, traditional, window frames usually found in older homes. Wish they had a “troubleshooting” section for installation anywhere on their site, app, or printed manual as we ran into a few issues and had to get creative. The support team is calling me tomorrow to help with the install. For a first version product, it works.

A really easy to use app that compliments this beautiful A/C. Really helpful to use as I come home to make sure my apt. is nice and cool when I get home.
