Description

Zero-setup Python environment and developer toolbox in a first-class citizen app for iPad and iPhone.
Juno is designed to cover all your Python coding needs, and will work seamlessly with all source code formats. Juno supports both Python scripts (.py) and Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb) — a document format focused on applying Python to data analysis and computational science.
FREE FEATURES
- Navigate and manage files and folders, quickly preview documents and media
- Browse and view Jupyter notebooks with quick and beautifully rendered previews
- Navigate through code sources, scripts, JSON, XML, and other text-based formats with rich previews and syntax highlighting
- Add quick access bookmarks for file system locations outside the app's sandbox, or simply open documents in place
PRO FEATURES
- Run code in Jupyter notebooks and Python sources locally on your device with a built-in Python 3.10 interpreter, entirely offline
- Write and execute Python code in a full-fledged development environment, featuring snappy, intelligent code completion and a console with full terminal emulator support
- Access all Jupyter features in a modern, powerful and customizable notebook editor
- Leverage powerful data analysis, machine learning and developer tools: NumPy, Matplotlib, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Pandas, LXML, and more
- View and edit any file as text in a built-in versatile plain text editor with syntax highlighting
- Enjoy painless package management: easily install any pure Python package with an intuitive package manager
PYTHON SCRIPTS
Python scripts are plain-text Python source code files with a .py extension. Juno lets you work on these with snappy code completion, a console with full terminal emulator support, a built-in media viewer for code-generated images, plots, web apps, and more. Juno will execute the code using an embedded Python interpreter, locally on your iPhone or iPad and completely offline.
JUPYTER NOTEBOOKS
A Jupyter notebook is a versatile document format that enables you to store live code, markdown text, plots, images, and LaTeX equations — all within a single notebook file with a .ipynb extension. Notebooks serve as excellent Python coding playgrounds for data manipulation and experimentation, and Juno makes working with them a breeze!
Notebook documents keep a record of all inputs and outputs from an interactive programming session, and the rich output generated by running Python scripts (including HTML, images, video, and plots) is embedded within the Jupyter notebook document. They are particularly convenient for coding in Python for data analysis, machine learning, or computational science in general.

Great! But would like google drive

igiveuptryingnicknames on

Australia

After testing multiple apps for running Python code, I’m really happy to have found this one! The ability to save files on iCloud/OneDrive is great however, all of my jupyter notebooks are stored on google drive as it’s used for Uni (google colab). I only have .py files saved in iCloud. It would be amazing if there was the ability to access files from a google drive too. I use this app a lot on the go, but want to keep all my notebooks stored in the same place without needing to duplicate them. If this isn’t possible I’ll consider transferring them to OneDrive, but want to know if google drive integration could be featured in the future first 😊 P.s. Thanks! I no longer need to sit for hours at a computer desk and can work on projects no matter where I am!

Great App w/ Some Frustrating Bugs

Sam J Hill on

Australia

Fundamentally, I think this app is well worth your money, as it captures the jupyter notebook experience really well. If you are worried about it being a half baked app, its not. However, it is buggy. Crashes not infrequently, and perhaps the most frustrating will bug out and scroll to the current cell output, not code, every time you press a key. This means your code is offscreen and your are coding blind. The only thing that fixes this is a full restart, but then you need to run through your whole workflow again. Additionally, you cannot change font size and with the aggressive scaling on iPadOS means you can’t fit much code onto your screen. Overall I would say it justifies its price over and above say, Carnets. Just needs some more QAQC

GOOD but still need to work on it

SimonSG2 on

My workflow is highly dependent on Notebooks and I use Juno when my PC is occupied. The experience using Juno is good in general, but I found the “sjoin”function in Geopandas doesn’t work as it requires “rtree” or “Pygeos”. Could you please help me with this? Thanks.

Great Jupyter App

Mitch Breitfuss on

Australia

This app is great for most data science use cases. The selection of packages is quite good, although it would be good to see Keras / Tensorflow be implemented. (If it’s even possible) As a more realistic suggestion, it would be great if you could update the app to allow the editing and running of regular .py files in addition to notebooks. (Useful for writing and testing libraries that may be used in notebooks)

App crashes when file is unavailable

flowerboyj on

Juno crashes whenever it can’t find a file that was previously opened from the network (when re-opening the app). This is a bug that needs to be fixed.

Just a suggestion

I use this app often for Uni. I noticed that while on an iPad pro you cannot have a dual screen (i.e have juno open twice on the page). I feel this could be really helpful. Otherwise really user friendly!

JUNO

LavenP on

Australia

Excellent app to do data analysis via portable Jupyter notebook on your iPhone. Great access to libraries such as pandas, numpy, seaborn etc. Only hitch so far is if you have to leave app temporarily (eg to retrieve information, lookup code etc) you can’t get back into JUNO without restarting iPhone. If that could be fixed it would be a 5!

Amazing!

One of the most valuable apps on my iPad Pro. Looking forward to future releases!

Stable and perfect for iOS

Pandas, Matplotlib and bumpy functionality are really well implemented, great functionality and easy to use. Does a good job even with Apple’s sandboxing
