Kana In A Flash Reviews

It’s okay, needs some work

I like this app, it allows me to drill what I know into my brain even further, and works somewhat okay. What annoys me, however, is how when you use the writing quiz, it makes you try to learn how it’s romanized. Which really, isn’t that necessary. Maybe instead of that, why not try stroke order or something of the sort? Also, sometimes when I answer the question, I know that it’s right, but instead it says wrong. It annoys me a lot of the time, and for some reason , sometimes when you answer it just moves on to another one with your previous answer still written (it never shows the small bit of vocabulary you get when you get it right). Also, I know that this app was meant to drill kana. However, to my knowledge, this does not include kanji. Sometimes in the writing quiz, I’d encounter a kanji character, and I’d be like “What the heck is this, I don’t know the romanization for this one! I can’t copy and paste it either, so I can’t look it up in a dictionary! Ugh, gotta exit the quiz and retry, or get it wrong purposely so I can skip it.” I like the addition, don’t get me wrong, but only if you can toggle the inclusion of Kanji so that beginners aren’t confused as heck. I also recommend you add furigana so they can be written out, and so people can actually learn without purposely getting it wrong so they can see the romanization and meaning. I’m currently a beginner who knows simple kanji, so adding that little tidbit of information would be massively helpful, and could possibly help add to my Kanji vocabulary easily. Just a tidbit of my thoughts, otherwise a good app. I use it often, to make sure I don’t forget it while I go over basic grammar and kanji.

Almost flawless, but some mistakes!

During the character quiz it seems to be mistaking the Katakana of what should be "za" for "ya". Other than that it would be really nice that if during character quizzes, when you miss a question, it would tell you which was the correct answer.
