Karta GPS - Mapas Offline

this GPS was very useful when I was in the mountains of North Carolina with zero service. I also downloaded the maps of both South Carolina and North Carolina and it transferred between the maps seamlessly.

Karta GPS has so much potential and looks pretty on its face. But when you actually try to use it you realize their OpenStreetMap data is wayyyyy outdated (like over a year) and navigation instruction is poor in many locations. When you contact support they respond to you and say they will work on the error and it will show up in the next maps data update, but that update never happens. As it sits, this app hasn’t been updated in 6 months. And even the problems I reported over 6 months ago have not been fixed in the last update. I get the impression this is a very low budget service and they can’t pay anyone to do the basic business of keeping the app running. If you’re looking for a good offline maps GPS app, you’re better off checking out Magic Earth or Here Maps. Neither of those are perfect, but at least they keep their maps and app updated and get you where you need to go.

Try to go with specific address but not work

I was excited to try out this app as I saw on social media they had fun voices and features like locating speed traps and traffic information. Sadly, the app makes you pay for these services (speed trap info, voices and for no ads). There are other free apps like waze with no ads, better voices, more locations, traffic info and customizable features.

9/20/2023 there’s a restaurant here in Jacksonville Florida called hip-hop fish and chicken. the address is 6610 North Main St., Jacksonville, FL. this does not come up when I put in the search. The only hip-hop fish and chicken comes up is the one in Tallahassee Florida.

DISCLAIMER- I didn’t purchase the remove ads module for the app. MAIN ISSUE: APPLE CARPLAY IS BUGGED AND IS COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. LOOK ELSEWHERE FOR PROPER APPLE CARPLAY SUPPORT. Yes it is listed on the app list on the radio, but you are going to be presented with a blank screen. I maybe got it to pop up once. If my issues are due to the remove ads module not being purchased. There is absolutely no documentation in the FAQ support section about this. I’m not paying a single penny for ad or additional features unless this is fixed. If the issue is fixed, I’ll change my star rating and consider buying the modules. KARTA SUPPORT: I sent in a ticket to your support about a week or so ago from the posting of this comment. No one has responded. If you have to verify my request was sent in, check your help desk app for ticket id 140344. Also the support tab in the app is broken as it crashes the app. PROS - as for being a phone app that can download maps, this is the best app to help give a frame of reference of your location without any service in the back country areas. This is what I was intending to use as areas I travel in are completely off grid. Always good to have some frame of reference. Map downloads are in a per state listing so it’s quite manageable for storage sizes. Just no satellite color imagery.

Everything is nice about this app, but the navigation directions definitely need work. It likes to direct me to the back of a Walmart instead of into the parking lot.

I bought the upgrades, had no cell service when I brought my phone to Germany… thought I could rely on my karta for such a situation but it didn’t even get my location and was general garbage. PURE TRASH! Avoid.
