This was the first app I used when I started teaching myself Japanese 5 years ago. It really helped me learn the basics like hiragana and katakana before I started Japanese classes in high school. I feel like it gave me a really good foundation to succeed in those classes because we learnt the topics in a similar order. I don’t think I’d be where I am today in my language learning journey if it wasn’t for this app, I’m truly grateful. It has been lovely to see the app grow and get polished over the years and I try to recommend it to all beginner learners. This app feels like a childhood friend ☺️
App no longer working.
Decided to give the app another go after quite some time. They made a change I didn’t like, but as I can’t remember what it was (I do remember it was quite a big change) I decided to try again. I have kept the app up to date & the App Store says it runs on this iPad (mini 5), but the app starts to load but then crashes before it fully loads, so within less than 5secs. Went to the “App Support” link on the App Store but it didn’t take me anywhere to get support. Just a basic website with a couple of reviews & links to download the app on Apple or Google or go to their store.
Keeps crashing…
I love this app but recently it keeps crashing. As soon as I enter, it crashes. Is this just me? All my other apps work but this boots me out. What’s going on?
I’m done :(
I’ve completed the app I think, I thought tyere would be a test at the end or something but no? Idk maybe duolingo has brainwashed me into thinking all language apps did that. I learned so much! My first year and a half of Japanese was so enjoyable and I’m excited to continue with future apps and forums ect.
This app is amazing for beginners and explains grammar well for everything except numbers, I would also appreciate a bit more sentences to be in 1st person but it’s fine!
さよなら!
Epic, but we have one sus problem
my friends Think riko is weird because Half fox/okay, I can’t remember the name of the nine tailed fox😐 still pretty cool game for learning Japanese *why did they make a furry meme of Riko after I showed some of the app?* AAA sorry, got lost in my mind anyway I like it it’s just my friends so that’s why I have to give it four stars… :(
I’ve learned so much
I was stuck with other apps that were inferior to this gem! I love the fun way of learning and it is so easy to understand that a dog could do it! (Ok maybe not that easy) but I love this so much! I am looking forward to learning more for once!
Fantastic
Unlike other Japanese language apps, this app utilises flash cards AND also provides an explanation… so you’re not just memorising words and sentences without context. You’re developing some understanding of how to construct a sentence. Looking forward to seeing how more complex sentences and phrases are taught as I progress in the game :-)
Too slow
Having to watch the slow animations and slow way it shows the characters was aggravating. No option to skip them.
Just one problem
I just started today and the game is adorable and it has a good concept, but I can’t listen to audio files? They won’t work.
I can’t find where to do the grammar lessons
The game is great so far but it won’t let me purchase anything nor do the grammar lessons. I’m stuck doing the basic Hiragana lessons, can someone please help me
