I purchased the app about a year ago but only recently begin testing it out. So far it seems relatively accurate based on my findings using the xrite color checker. I do however hope they add a green/magenta reading as well to fine tune this using LED with tint sliders.
I’m a professional videographer and editor, I’ve been using this app for 3 weeks now. The color temp it displays is inconsistent. I’ll change the color temp on my bicolor light from 3200k to 5600k and it won’t change. When I move the phone and point it at something else then back to my white balance card it changes, usually to 4900k. I was hoping to depend on this app to match temperatures on my lights (they don’t have displays), but I guess I’ll be guessing like I have been all along. I guess you get what you pay for.

I bought this for one particular problematic photo, in which I was shooting a multisource lighting condition, low light with a complex set of materials in the image Kev gave me a kelvin number, I dialed it into my image editor, and the resulting image was exactly what I wanted So nice 😊

As a cinematographer for over 20 years, I have been looking forever to replace my LightMeter with a digital one on my phone. I shoot Primarily in LOG and color balance is key to a beautiful image.
