I tried your free synth one app first to make sure it was compatible with GarageBand, I loved it and so I purchased this app, but I think it’s clunkier than the free app, although there are many voices to choose from, and I think the little animated man on the right is very annoying!
This is worth EVERY penny, let me say that up front. Stunning sounds and the absolute best bang for buck on the App Store. But, as with ALL AudioKit apps the sequencer and all the Arp sounds just don’t trigger correctly and are always out of time. Such a shame as it would be awesome to use them in tracks with LogicPro or GarageBand. And sadly… the more I’ve used it the more I’ve realised it’s unreliability when used in LogicPro and GarageBand. It loads up and records. But go back to your track in a day or two and it doesn’t load. Much like the other apps by this developer. If these issues can be resolved this app would be indispensable, but as it stands - it’s a fun toy, but cannot be relied upon in a DAW.
I’m a big fan of AudioKit, especially vhs synth. Although this ostensibly the same engine as their previous releases they keep refining and this is their pinacle so far. The inclusion of 2 lfos and a mod matrix make it super deep and with so many oscillator types you really can sculpt some truly beautiful sounds. I is so great value for money. I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in sound design.
Every few weeks, I open the App Store and search “AudioKit”. If there’s a new app, I get it and have never been disappointed.
This is a truly outstandingly excellent synth: beautiful sounds, well designed non-intrusive interface, yet really easy to use and tweak. App hasn’t crashed once either over hours of use, so stable as a the rock. And at that price you can’t possibly go wrong, it’s an absolute steal. Get yourself some happy! Note: I’m using the synth via a Yamaha YC keyboard which acts as both a MIDI controller and an audio interface - flawless.
Sounds great and all my D1 presets are here, but lacks the arpeggiator. Yes there is a sequencer but it’s not as immediate as an arpeggiator and takes away from the flow of creativity. Seq could also have some presets or random generator and a way to save my pattern. I don’t want to have to build a new pattern every time. Sticking with my D1 for now, this does not replace it.
I also have been rapidly filling up the Favourites folder, there are so many awesome pads, I’m really spoiled for choice here. Without a doubt this is the best synth app in the whole Audiokit collection and one that I will certainly be using in all my projects 👌
Clear cool sounds, great sequences and so flexible to use. You’ve got to have it in your armoury of music production !
There are so many good sounds here, if you can’t make music with these sounds, you may as well give up!
