Kirtan Kriya is one of the fundamental practices in Kundalini Yoga. This Timer will be a great assistant to you in your practice of Kirtan Kriya. This non-religious, thousands of years old practice can be adapted to several lengths, but practicing it for just 11 minutes a day has been shown to reduce stress levels and increase activity in areas of the brain that are central to memory.
From an Eastern perspective, it is believed that the placement of the tongue on the roof of the mouth while chanting sounds stimulates 84 meridian points on the upper palate. This causes a beneficial bio-chemical transformation in the brain, adjusts the endocrine system, and creates a neutral balanced mind. In addition, research has revealed that utilizing the fingertip position (mudras) in conjunction with the sounds enhances blood flow to particular areas in the motor-sensory part of the brain.
It is one the first kriya taught by Yogi Bhajan, the Master of Kundalini Yoga. He mentioned that this Kriya would carry us through the Aquarian Age, even if all other teachings were lost.

Music doesn’t play
I just downloaded and paid for this app. I didn’t see a free choice. When I click settings it brings me to my iTunes but even if I pick a song from there the music doesn’t play. I like the chimes and directions but would like the full experience with music choices or suggestions in the app.
Was great, but now no sound
I loved this app because it made it so easy to practice Kieran Kriya without paying attention to the time during meditation. Now the sound no longer works. I have restarted my phone a few times, removed and reinstalled the app, but the sound no longer works. When I click on settings, the app crashes. A real shame, I would be happy if there was an update!
No music
App doesn’t let you upload music.
I should have read the reviews
Terrible app. At first I thought “so I have to keep my eyes open to watch the timer?”, then I saw in the settings that I could set the chimer, but that didn’t work. What a dud.
Great Timer
I’ve been using this app to signal me to go from aloud to whisper to silent to whisper to aloud for years. It’s has never failed me to time this meditation perfectly.
Music doesn’t work
I bought this hoping it would add the sa tan a ma chant but it didn’t. The only music choice it gives is for you to pick music from your iTunes. So I tried this option and it still doesn’t play music. I feel misled. The free app is the same as the paid one.

I thought they would offer music choices with paid app but you choose from your own music library - if you have one. If you don’t have Apple Music get the free app. It’s the same.
Vibration option does not work on I Phone 7. I am Deaf and need vibration as timing.
