Knowing Your Volkswagen

I love my car so much except one thing. It’s that nightmare infotainment system that lasts only 1 year, then when it’s updated, navigation stops working and I have to take it to the dealership where they charge me over $1000 for the whole panel to be replaced inside the glove box. Just why?! I’ve done that twice already and have been living without navigation for years now because I am not gonna pay for the infotainment system “repair” year after year. First one was covered by the factory warranty, but the second time, I had to pay out of pocket because it was a legit repair according to the dealership. Why is it a repair? I didn’t break anything! it’s just a map update! I am the victim of this faulty, update system of Volkswagen company because after paying for the car, why do the customers have to pay for the software updates? Raise your hand if you own an iPhone. Do you pay Apple company every time your iPhone updates? You already paid any future software updates when you purchased the phone, right? I don’t wanna replace my car because I love my Golf Sportwagen so much because of the color because of the decor I put in because of the power of its engine because of the cute spacious hatchback! Volkswagen company owes me a brand new infotainment system that I never ever have to pay for any more stupid yearly updates! PERIOD!

The app will only store the last 3 years models. So if your car turns 4 years old, it’s dropped from the app.

Don’t waste your time, stick to their website. This app is a nightmare

Although it stores the vehicle information it isn’t setup to display the owners manual.

Much to my astonishment, this app really does demand all 17 characters of your car’s VIN to open it. What ever were they thinking?

Won’t let me create an account. Just says creating, but nothing ever happens

Basically just a browser that takes you to their website. NO actual app functionality. Plus you have to input your VIN every single time you want to view the owners manual. Whatever halfwit wrote this app needs to be fired. Out of a cannon. Into the sun.

App is poorly made and basically seems to just point to a webpage, it even has the cookie warnings at the bottom of the page. But the most annoying thing is you have to put in your VIN every single time you want to look at your car’s manual. Why have a registration process and a Garage allowing you to save your vehicles if you can’t also save the VIN. App could be so much better if they just put in a bit of effort.

App won’t recognize my gmail email address as a “valid email”
