Have a Kuna Powered security device or smart light? You’ll need the Kuna mobile app to set up and control your Kuna, Maximus, and Toucan smart security devices.

 After you’ve created a free Kuna account and connected your Kuna Powered device(s) to your Wi-Fi network, you’ll have access to all of Kuna’s powerful preventative security features:

We have had some version of Kuna for the past six years or so. Multiple units around the house. Even sold family and friends on buying in. While it wasn’t optimal to have to buy four replacement units during that time, I always wrote it off to 24/7 use year round. When the wall plates replaced the porch lights, we adjusted and installed three to replace three that no longer worked. Now we pay for a service we cannot use. It refuses to show live despite us trying different network configurations. Another option left light just crashed out, but there is no point in replacing it apparently. Customer service? Let’s be real, it’s hard enough to get a menu order right with an Indian server much less tech help once removed. We are now replacing all of our units as are our friends and family. Seek out better options.

No integration with older devices

I’m ready to ditch Kuna, time for change. Light doesn’t listen to the app. You turn the light off, then it turns itself back. Set a schedule, light doesn’t listen. Launching Kuna and this app to the trash

This app is glitching quite a bit. I’ve had the original app for quite some time and am able to zoom in, play & pause, and move the video forward. When I zoom in this app it seems hypersensitive & it freezes up. It will sometimes play the sound when the screen has been swiped. Generally when it freezes it crashes. I’ve enjoyed Kuna for years, but it seems like this app needs some work before it’s widely rolled out. I have 3 other cameras on my account on the other app & would like them to be compatible, but the app should work better before that happens. The wall plate has some awesome features, but they don’t work well at all. The replacement lamp is large and my family keeps bumping their head on it in the spot that the old lantern used to be. The 3 other cameras are the original version. I’ve had them for over 5 years and this one is replacing the 2nd one that died. The first one was over a year and the support team sent me a replacement even though it was outside of the warranty period. This is disappointing that I need to use this subpar app since the other has been fantastic!

I’m a long time Kuna user and was happy with the original app. One of my Kuna light went dead and no longer sell replacements so purchased the new wall plate which uses a new nonintegrated Kuna SE app. Should have stuck with the original app. This new wall plate and App have the following issues 1. Records, it will not stream a live feed. Keeps giving an error message and prompts to contact tech support. Waiting for response 2. Can set time schedule for light, but no option to have light be activated by motion and stay on for X minutes ect. 3. Have other Kuna lights an now need to use two separate apps from the same company to view front and back doors. Really? Come on guys integrate your apps - this has been out for over a year already.

Stay away from Kuna’s new Wall plates

If I could I would give Kuna a Zero rating. These new wall plates cost me $186 each. The color video changes to black and white. Kuna’s response is to turn off the night Vision. Really, I paid for a feature and they say to turn it off to have color videos. Now that my free 6 months of video storage has expired, they want to charge me $29.99 a MONTH, just for storing videos. I’m going back to “Ring “

I usually don’t write reviews for apps or products but this new app is not as good as the old version and the wall plate has flaws as well. 1st - Why does the new app work with the wall plate only. I have multiple items from Kuna, now two separate apps… and the videos will not play when I am not at home so I can barely check on my house when I’m away to see who came over… dropped off a package or stole one… 2nd - Support is not helpful at all. Multiple messages and getting nowhere. Not a fan at the moment. 3rd - My last front porch light was amazing. Worked great, had a chime when someone walked up. The light all-in-one cam is no longer available, so I had to buy The new wall plate. It will not make a chime when someone walks up. You have to have a custom greeting. The only options are words talking or sounds like a ghost sound for Halloween or a merry Christmas message. I liked having a simple chime. 4th - the wall plate is slow to detect presence / make a noise as well. Sometimes as they walk away. Sometimes it chimes when they are right by the front door other times it captures them when they are far away and I haven’t change the distance setting… completely inconsistent.

Live camera feed constantly stutters and often does not work. Signal is excellent. Live video has now not worked for 9 days and support is unresponsive. Motion detection is unreliable. Notifications can come in batches of 20 or not at all for weeks. I have made a request for warranty service and two followups with no response. I will be filing a complaint with my state Attorney General’s office next week and replacing the wall plate camera with a more reliable brand. DO NO BUY. This review discusses the Camera Wall Plate because the physical product and the managing app are inextricably linked.

Disappointed with Kuna-SE and Wallplate Camera

First the good:I purchased 2 wall plate cameras. - The install was easy enough. - The motion sensitivity is good - The cameras are good quality… videos are crystal clear - the night vision is a great option The not so good: I’m super disappointed in the connectivity, especially when away from home. I’ll receive notifications of someone at the door. But, the live feed does not connect. I have to wait for the recording to see what is happening on my property when I’m away. Additionally, when I am home and should have zero problems viewing the live feed. But, no. It only works half the time… and that’s generous. Then there is the customer service. I have contacted them several times and they are not understanding the problem. So, they close the ticket and tell me to contact them again if I have any more problems. It is frustrating. There are other similar complaints. I’d really like someone from the company pay attention to the issues and fix the Kuna-SE app and the cameras / live feed so the system works. Thinking about contacting the BBB for a formal complaint.
