L-Lingo Learn Tagalog Filipino Reviews

Doesn’t work

It worked fine until I payed for it , then the lesson part won’t open the new words section, the quiz sections works, but nothing to be quizzed on

Best Tagalog language app yet.

I tried Rosetta Stone for 6 months and it wasn’t nearly as helpful as this app. This app focuses on what’s most useful in conversations and is very easy to understand. I like how it tests your ability to translate the words in multiple ways, including giving the English word and having you find the Tagalog definition. The picture choices are even from the Philippines unlike some apps that use the same photos for every language. Clearly they put a lot of work into the development of this app.

Not working

I can't do any of the lessons. I can only do quizzes. 😕

Good but flawed

This is probably the best app I’ve seen to help learn Tagalog so far. My biggest problem is the grammar isn’t well explained such as when you would use a prefix, infix, and suffix for which words. Also there are words such as “nakaupo” that aren’t explained in the lesson intro. There’s nothing about the prefix “naka”. Also, There are a mistakes in the wording. For example- when explaining future tense it would still say “past tense”. Also there are a couple translation errors like “Ang batang babea at ang batang babea” is the girl and the girl but the description at the beginning of lesson 2 says the translation is “the girl and the boy”. They’re not huge mistakes but mistakes none the less.

Very good app and great customer support

The key is to use the app often. Do 2 x 15 minute sessions instead of one 30 minute session. I like the flash cards, the English to Tagalog and Tagalog translations. Melanie and her team are quite prompt and ready to assist via email- which they have done for me a few times over the years due to me upgrading iPad, iPhone, etc. They also are introducing a web based program. I do like it, but it seems to have similar content to the app, albeit with enhanced features and tests to ensure you learn the material. There is a nominal monthly fee instead of paying for the lessons all at once as with this app. Constructive suggestions....I think an enhanced explanation of verb conjugation would be beneficial. Some of the photos (such as for an airplane) can be improved upon rather than showing a cute boy under an inflatable plane. I have used the app for a few years now-every time I go to PI. While most speak English in Manila, outside of metro not everyone speaks it. An effort to learn the language goes a looooong way to showing respect. This is certainly a more cost effective method rather than shelling out more $$ for Rosetta Stone!

Best app to learn Tagalog

My boyfriend and his family are from the Philippines and even though I am not great at learning languages I decided it was time to make an effort. I downloaded about 6 different apps to see which one I liked, and this one is by far the best. I like the lesson plan and the fact that it mixes reading/listening/visuals! It is easy to take the quizzes to practice a few minutes every day. That being said, there are some flaws in the grammar lessons that I've seen so far. I've been able to figure some of it out with the help of google and my boyfriend. So while I will continue using this on a daily basis and pay for the full version, I would say it does need to be supplemented with something else. If you don't want to spend much money, check YouTube!! There are a lot of channels dedicated to teaching Tagalog

Glad I didn't buy Rosetta Stone

This app is great. My mother in law is filipino and I've been wanting to learn tagalog. I bought the Pimsleur course which is amazing but wanted more practice. I had the Rosetta Stone for Spanish and it's very similar to this app which is so much cheaper. There's really no reason to buy Rosetta if you get this.

Awesome!

The best app for learning a new language that I've found! Makes you feel like you've made progress every time you use it.

Can't Expect Much for Free

It gives a nice overview of Tagalog, sentence structure and some basic words. Eight (8) words to be exact - and that's if you count "a" and "and"... And the lesson was designed well. The one (1) lesson that is... Once again, what can you expect for free??!

Kukunin ko to. Great app

I really enjoy this app. The free version offers some great and funny phrases (especially if you use intentionally at the wrong time ;D). L-Lingo makes a good product; I'm very happy spending the small money for the full version. Mabuhay!
