LA Times Reviews

Good not great

djr999 on

I like the LA Times but I find their interface can still be a bit more user friendly.

Latmes

shawnboys on

United States

I love the LA Times app because it gives you updates every two or three minutes of breaking news and also you can read the digital paper through the app

Anti-Semitic

Kingfarnut on

United States

I wanted to subscribe but found out the LA Times is anti-Semitic and in favor of Hamas’s efforts against Israel. They never call out pro-Palestinian violence in America. So why support an anti-American media company.

Sick of the rage bait

izzzy08 on

United States

Not sure what happened to the LA times but it’s very disappointing. I first subscribed because I was impressed with the genuine, quality journalism. Over time I’ve watched it slowly turn into rage bait headlines and propaganda. How many articles do we need about people “leaving California”? Every article is so cringily biased it hurts to read. Sad to say I will be cancelling my subscription after the piece about the UCLA protests. It’s a nuanced issue, and the journalistic focus on the few silly protesters rather than the majority of people making fair points is very odd. It’s not just poor writing, it’s poor investigating and reporting.

A lot of work to find the day’s news

oh!whatanickname on

United States

The LA Times makes it is very difficult to read the day’s news on their digital app. I subscribe to and read several major newspapers digitally. NYT and WaPo make it easy to read the days news - you can go to “latest (or equivalent) or a section. Or select the eNewspaper, choose an article, and the app takes you to that article. On the LA Times, the eNewspaper is an image of the print newspaper with no links to articles - you enlarge each image to read the article. “Top News” seems to cover a week. First couple articles are from the day, and then you get articles from previous days. Great if you want an overview of the week, but not for the day’s news. The same is true of all sections. The only way to see the daily paper is to read the newspaper or search the articles you find on the eNewspaper.

GOP propaganda

DrScreenplay on

United States

Completely slanted GOP newspaper. Terrible considering it doesn’t reflect the city it “reports” on.

Still can’t tap to view articles.

SteveL00 on

United States

I still can’t tap to view articles. After informing customer services many months ago, I still can’t tap to view articles in the current edition of the e-paper all the time; sometimes it works but mostly no. I can tap to view archived editions but not the current edition. Why even have the mobile app if it doesn’t work as advertised.

App Options NOT WORKING

E-2tri on

United States

It’s always a guess as to which features will work on this app. Sometimes the enlargement is blurry, sometimes I click on the article and it will open nice and sharp, but this is very rare. I found a workaround that usually works, go to the comics section and click on the first comic and click the back button until I get to article #1. It’s a pain, but it usually works, but not today or most days for that matter. App is not very reliable.

Needs tech update

SweetHana on

United States

Please update app tech. Current version is dark ages - Electronic version of daily paper allows only read page by page, without hyperlink to the story. I like reading the entire story without flipping the pages. What is the underlying reason not to use the hyperlink to open the story from the daily e-version?
