Help build your child's vocabulary with common sight words, beginning consonants blends (dr-ag, dr-um, dr-aw), ending consonants blends (so-ft, lo-ft, gi-ft), and various word families (am, Sam, jam). The app contains more than 500 words! It has also been proven to increase a child's understanding of rhymes and word families. 

FEATURES
• Sight words – common sight words
• Beginning consonants - (dr-ag, dr-um, dr-aw), 20 word groups and the beginning blends are highlighted in green
• Ending consonants blends - (so-ft, lo-ft, gi-ft), 13 word groups and the ending blends are highlighted in green
• Word families – Contains 22 word families (am, Sam, jam / b-ad, p-ad, s-ad)
• Track Progress - You can track the progress of the words viewed
• Automatic mode - Words appear every 4 seconds
• Swipe mode - The user controls the frequency of the words and can swipe to see the next word
• Text-to-speech allows the user to hear the word as it appears on screen.

Vowel Stories Flash Cards assists teachers and parents, both directly and indirectly, in supporting Common Core State Standards (CCSS) in English Language Arts. Below is a list of the corresponding CCSS's for kindergarten and grade 1:

• Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
• Recognize and produce rhyming words.
• Count, pronounce, blend, and segment syllables in spoken words.

Reading: Foundational Skills> Phonics and Word Recognition> Kindergarten
• Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of one-to-one letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary sound or many of the most frequent sounds for each consonant.
• Associate the long and short sounds with the common spellings (graphemes) for the five major vowels.
• Read common high-frequency words by sight (e.g., the, of, to, you, she, my, is, are, do, does).

Reading: Foundational Skills> Phonics and Word Recognition>Grade 1
• Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
• Know the spelling-sound correspondences for common consonant digraphs.
• Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words.

• Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).

App seems decent... Haven't been using it long. Biggest issue is how they write the letter A. 
They don't do it like how we teach our children to write a lower case a. Kinda throws my kids off. I don't get when teaching apps want to use fancy writing??
