A Delightful Digital Sketchbook: My Review of Linea Sketch
Linea Sketch has quickly become a go-to app for me when I need a digital space to brainstorm ideas, sketch out quick visuals, or even jot down handwritten notes. Its simplicity is its strength, offering a clean and intuitive interface that allows you to focus on the creative process without being overwhelmed by a plethora of complex tools.
**First Impressions and Interface:**
Upon opening Linea Sketch, you're greeted with a beautifully minimalist canvas. The toolbar is discreetly placed, offering essential tools without cluttering the screen. The color palette is thoughtfully curated and easily accessible, and the overall design feels both elegant and functional. It's clear that the developers prioritized a seamless and distraction-free user experience.
**The Joy of Sketching:**
The core experience of sketching in Linea Sketch is incredibly smooth and responsive. The virtual pencils and pens feel natural, offering a satisfying level of control over line weight and texture. Whether you're using your finger or an Apple Pencil, the app accurately captures your strokes with minimal lag. The ability to adjust pressure sensitivity (if using a stylus) further enhances the drawing experience, allowing for nuanced variations in your lines.
**Tools That Just Work:**
Linea Sketch offers a well-chosen set of fundamental tools that cover most sketching needs:
* **Pencil:** Provides a classic sketching feel with varying degrees of pressure sensitivity.
* **Pen:** Offers a clean, crisp line ideal for outlining and more defined work.
* **Marker:** Delivers a broader, more opaque stroke, great for filling areas or adding emphasis.
* **Eraser:** Functions effectively and allows for precise corrections.
* **Lasso Select:** A handy tool for selecting and manipulating specific parts of your sketch.
* **Ruler:** A simple yet useful addition for drawing straight lines.
What's particularly impressive is the lack of unnecessary complexity. Each tool is straightforward to use, and the settings are intuitive. You won't find yourself lost in endless menus trying to figure out how a particular brush works. This simplicity makes Linea Sketch incredibly accessible to both beginners and experienced artists.
**Taking Notes with Ease:**
The app's description, "Draw and take notes with ease," is spot on. While primarily a sketching tool, Linea Sketch also excels at handwritten note-taking. The pen tool works beautifully f
Amazing app!
Must for those who are not savvy to photoshop. There are several features that are paid but a lot of great features are free. I liked the layer feature a lot! Unpaid features are so versatile that they shadow the paid ones!!
Its a really great app but procreate exists
I am a student dabbling into art as a hobby and I tried a couple apps including fresco and procreate, fresco was a little too industrial for me while linea and procreate just worked. But here is the thing, I want to work in layers and linea uses the masking as a paid function for the price of procreate. Why would I buy this when I can just get procreate ?
I would DEFINITELY use this app BUT FOR ONE THING…
I love everything about this app — the simplicity, the amt of templates as well as zip-line feature!!!
But one thing ruins the experience by a considerable margin… — ‘THE RESOLUTION’
The projects have a very low and fixed resolution. When I zoom in to write; all the text/ drawings/ diagrams get very PIXELATED… (given I am using an iPad Pro)
Hoping the developers to increase the resolution of the projects…
Regards
I LOVE EVERYTHING but..
I love everything it’s perfect but I think there should be a streamline setting because my notes are sometimes a little too wobbly and I want the mechanical pencil kinda removed cuz the pencil and the mechanical pencil are a little too similar so maybe replace it with maybe a shaper and I could go there and I could choose a shape there and adjust it or something other than that it’s really good
Nice.
Fulfilled many of my sketching and notes making needs.
Happy to discover this app.
Hope that it gets even better.
Glad that you keep it free.
Want some improvements/features
Need an option to set time after which the shape is automatically converted to a square/circle etc. When using in notebook mode, expect to new pages automatically getting added at the end of the current page. Dark mode. Handwriting recognition definitely helps. Good app overall.

Power Drinking App
My iPad Pro battery is draining like hell.... I think PUBG is not drinking this much....
Great app for wireframing.
Been using this for over 8 months now. The simplicity of the app prevents me from wasting time. As a Product Designer I testify that Linea has some of the best UX among sketching tools. The tools have been designed very thoughtfully. Highly recommended to other desingers who need a great tool to replace their pen+paper workflow. I've converted my entire team to Linea.
