Ling Reviews

app interface is great but not good for learning khmer

IsabelleCh_ on

Singapore

used this to learn khmer, since this is one of the only few apps that offers the language, with a pretty clean interface too. however, what i don’t understand is the way lessons are structured, especially for beginners. for instance, you learn numbers 1, 3, 5 in one lesson, 2, 4, 6 in the next. in the introduction, you learn what a woman, man, is called, and it goes straight into a full on conversation of “hi how are you” without breaking down what each of the words mean. want to know how to say “how about you”? then you’ll have to infer from the chunk of conversation yourself. any other words you don’t know? well good luck with that because it does no way of telling you. but seriously, why aren’t all the basics categorized together, and in systematic order?

Am really thankful for this app

This was a fun way to start my Malayalam journey when there are really few resources available. I hope Ling will stay around. It is a great service :)

Excellent App. I'm here in sg trying to learn to speak Malay. My malaysian colleague are freaking out that i can understand them and can speak their basic language. This app is so cool.

Need improvement on Burmese script

marcelli001 on

Singapore

I am learning Burmese in order to be able to communicate with my spouse family. On top of that I am learning how to read as it is crucial for me to text my mother in law. But it seems that a lot of the writings are not correct (consulted with my fiancée). These screenshots are some of the mistake that you made.

Good app!

Love this app it's easy and fun to use. One thing to improve - can you please bring back the daily revision that consolidates questions from different lessons? It's easy to revise vocabulary from past lessons at a glance.

some problems

kirstaye on

Singapore

Found this app through reddit. it’s really good to learn korean! however, i do have one problem. the app keeps auto shutting down before 1 lesson is fully complete. i’ve tried several lessons and app force shuts down before it reaches 7/10. is there any way to resolve this?

Cool app!

inigo alfonso on

Singapore

Found this app through postings on Reddit and tried the Tagalog course for the Free version and this seems like the most comprehensive app out there teaching Tagalog on iOS so far! However there are a few unnatural sentence combinations such as “ako ay babae” which isn’t really used often in conversational settings and “babae ako” is used instead. Otherwise this app is amazing and I hope it can include other difficult to find languages such as Native American and Polynesian Languages, and even Hokkien!
