World Youth Day (WYD) is a meeting of young people from all over the world with the Pope.
It is both a pilgrimage, a feast of youth, an expression of the universal Church and a powerful moment of evangelization of the world of youth.
It presents itself as an invitation to a generation determined to build a more just and solidary world. With a clearly Catholic identity, it is open to all, whether they are closer or farther from the Church.
The Lisboa 2023 app is the official application to support the pilgrim during the week of World Youth Day Lisbon 2023.
The app has 5 great menus.
The Agenda menu provides the schedule for all events of the week:
Rise up Meetings, Youth Festival, City of Joy, and all Central Events;
The Map menu with the locations of health posts, water points, toilets and host parishes.
In the map menu are also available the locations of the events of the Youth Festival and the City of Joy and the Central Events. Also available are the maps of the venues of the Central Events as well as the map of the City of Joy.
The Up2pray menu provides all the material to support spirituality for the week of WYD Lisbon 2023, the readings and songs for all the central events, the hymn, the theme and official WYD prayer, the rosary and other prayers.
The Profile menu has useful information for the pilgrim. In the Home menu, you have access to the other menus presented as well as the pilgrim's carbon footprint calculator.

I’m a pilgrim at WYD 2023. The app works as intended, and it works well offline, especially with the Up 2 Pray section of the app. However, there are still two major issues present. First, the app takes around 15-20 seconds to load the home page, which is extremely behind compared to other apps. Even iBreviary, which became partially broken after its redesign (though it has thankfully been mostly fixed), only takes 2 or 3 seconds max to load a page. Second, pilgrim credential login data is lost after each update. We as pilgrims (and volunteers and clergy and so forth) don’t want to retype our email addresses to send links to our emails to login the app just because an update to your app has lost login tokens. Please implement a method to store authentication that PERSISTS for every update instead of losing it. Additionally, there is a golden rule of application quality control: to send the app prototype to a small number of people so that test users can find bugs before it’s released to the mass public. If this app had a prototype, it was never assessed properly by testers. This app didn’t have an alpha or beta version nor was it available via TestFlight. MEO and Altice Labs, you had at least TWO YEARS to develop a prototype and pen-test it for bugs. Please acknowledge these issues and fix them as soon as possible. Thank you. Laggy and Dysfunctional
Can’t even translate events into the proper language despite selecting your language setting. Oh, and it freezes after you select your language forcing you to close and restart the app.
I mean, guess you can’t really expect much from the Catholic Church boomers who decided to go with this substandard app development company despite the multitude of better and more competent app developers out there.
Can’t log in after numerous tries
The login process never sends the “magic” email to complete the sign-in process (hasn’t worked for anyone in our group). Rise up starts tomorrow and we have no idea where our catechesis is located at. Also the map isn’t working properly, I won’t show where our location is. If it worked the way it’s supposed to, it would be a great app.

Problemas com a abertura
Demora uma eternidade a abrir, o ecrã fica verde e parado durante minutos, as notificações têm erros, sendo a pior a que pede para actualizar para “não” ficar o que está a acontecer. Enfim…

Ao nível de um evento desta dimensão. Informação actualizada com todos os eventos na cidade, de forma simples de pesquisar. Tem sido o meu guia nestas jornadas. Parabéns!
