LizardBox Reviews

almost entire app behind paywall

Maxine8642 on

was excited to get it after i saw it on reddit and seemed just like what i needed, however i was disappointed to find a lot of stuff was behind a paywall, you can only have 1 reptile, other features also need payed, don’t download unless you want to pay a subscription for it.

Only lets you add one pet before paywall

Great in theory but you can only add one pet before a paywall. While $4.99 a month isn't crazy, it's still unexpected, most apps will let you add 3-5 animals before a paywall. If I had more than a few reptiles that I needed to keep up with it would be worth it.

Frustrated

2tired4thisss on

I’m frustrated because I like the layout of this app; the other ones I’ve seen are too complicated for me, as I’m not interested in breeding, so the layout of this one has worked for me great. However, a month after downloading they came out with an update and ever since then, anytime I click any button that’s supposed to lead to my critter logs, the app completely closes. My phone is up to date, so is the app, I’ve restarted my phone, I’ve even written support about the issue just to let them know there was a glitch. To their credit they seemed concerned, however since then there has been another update and I’m still having the same issue. It’s frustrating, and even if this is an isolated incident regarding my phone for whatever reason, I have to switch apps. Hopefully down the line I can redownload and use it again, but until then I’m not gonna pay for an app that doesn’t work for me.

Paywall yawn

No mention in description that the entire app is behind a paywall if you want to add more than 1 animal

Great potential, some bugs

Like updating birth date and acquired date. Anytime I change these values the other date field resets to today.

Not what I hoped for

Was really excited to use this app for keeping all my pets info and I had to pay to be able to use a majority of the app making it so that it’s not useful to me

Limited Features

There’s very few modern app that lets you track your reptiles. This app would’ve been good, but it’s behind a subscription paywall. You’d need to login, a bit unnecessary but hey it should save over the server… Then you can only add one pet, you can give basic details like age, feeding, weight, etc. But if you want to add more than one pet, that’s a paywall. Want to set up a frequency schedule? Paywall. It’s not even a good diary, you can just use any other modern note apps or school reminder, and it would just be better.

Great idea, but not what I thought it’d be

First off, please know that what this app provides (or intends to) is really great. And perhaps my problems are user error. But unfortunately, the app isn’t exactly what I thought it was. These are the main reasons I feel that way: • Slightly challenging interface. This could be my own fault, but it’s difficult to log the info of any feedings or changes. I can’t find where I can put a detailed feeding or other entry, only the quick log. And you can’t list a feeding without entering the food supply/quantity in a separate place. I totally get why this is a thing, but it feels inefficient to have to do that before you can log a feeding. But maybe this is only an issue when you get bulk feeders and don’t have a count on them, I’m not sure. Also, you can’t change the date or time of the feeding in the quick log. • You cannot use this app for free. Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly understandable for an app or service to cost money! I don’t mind that at all. But the app and it’s description doesn’t tell you in advance that, once the free trial ends, you can’t use the app anymore unless you pay. I don’t mind paying for apps, but it is free on the App Store and the description gives no indication that it’s actually a subscription service. I wish I knew that before I put all my information in, because unfortunately, that info is lost unless I subscribe. Anyway, I’m sorry to leave a somewhat negative review. These problems might be user error on my part. I wanted to share this, though, just in case. Negative things aside, thank you developers for working hard on this app!

Awesome! My only suggestion is more types of alerts, like instead of just daily or weekly there’s yearly, monthly, things like that. Otherwise it’s really good :))

Few suggestions

skltn.gldn18 on

This is an awesome app that is really really helpful especially if you have a lot of animals or just a busy schedule. I do have a few suggestions though, -the option of a Gotcha day date instead of just a birth date. A lot of my animals are rescues so I have no idea when they hatched or how old they are. - the ability to sort the herptiles, like by date added, birthday, alphabetical or by species. -the reminders are a bit confusing when they show up on the home page, they are usually under one date but there will be reminders for the next 3 days under it, and it gets confusing with what I need to do. -the ability to customize a reminders frequently, my ball python eats every 2 weeks but I have to just have her reminder down for every week and just remember on my own what week to feed her. -lastly, seasonal and breeding options. Like the option to say when your animal starts brumation or when they are in breeding season, if they mate or lay eggs/give birth. Also I noticed that you have an option for s yellow-foot tortoise but not a red-foot tortoise. This is a life saver app and I use it every day and more people should know about it
