LookUp: English Dictionary

> existing users get lifetime access to looup+ for free. I’m an existing user but app keeps asking for paid subscription and now all my collections are locked. Even on the second update that was supposed to fix this.

I bought the app for the full price, and then it became free for everyone and now by subscription. Do you think this is normal? Why not give at least a year of subscription to everyone who has already bought it?

Great dictionary but it lacks inflected forms for words.

Excellent dictionary app, however, translations are not available in Russian, which is a deal-breaker.

Not enough available for the free version

I’ve never used a dictionary on my phone, but Look Up now gets daily use! The app functions perfectly and I have never run into a single bug in all my time of using it (~2yrs now, I had it back when it was a one time purchase). I came here just to give it a review after confirming the difference between two similar words (alternate vs alternative) & realized I hadn’t helped the app out after it’s helped me out so much. So cheers dev, thanks for a great app!

Yesterday, I emailed application support the following, which summarizes my like for the app and my suggestion for improvement (I hope they respond back, or at least consider my suggestion): Hello. For a long time now, I’ve been a big fan of your LookUp iOS app, which I most often use as a dictionary. I love the beautiful imagery in your app, as all the beautiful pictures in the app make your app more a pleasure to use as a dictionary, instead of just using a plain dictionary containing only words! 👍 May I make a suggestion that I think would improve the usability of your app, not just for myself but for others as well? Include links in the definitions to similar words. Let me explain: Today I looked up the word “admonition” in your app, and the noun meaning says “an act or action of admonishing”. Since I was not certain of what the word “admonish” means, I had to go back to the search bar in the app to search on the word “admonish”, to find its definition. Had there been a link to the word “admonish” in the definition section of the word “admonition”, I could have more easily tapped on such a link and been brought directly to the dictionary definition of the word “admonish”. I’ve noticed that my “word of the day” notification appears to be broken. I’ve gotten the same word, “mercantile” everyday for the past two weeks. Is there something going on with the app? It’s really upsetting because I am a paid member and really looked forward to expanding my vernacular. ------- Relevant Debugging Information: OS: iOS 17.4.1 Device: iPhone

It was cute, but not that cute.

Paywall protected pronunciations. I cannot imagine a list of features that would somehow make this comparable to a real dictionary app. The clipart is dated and distracting, but seemingly the only feature of distinction. So many better options one click away.
