Lothian Buses/Edinburgh Trams

The layout and navigation is much worse than the old one. Most importantly, it’s incredibly misleading as the map focuses on the ‘current location’ you gave it at the time of calculating the route, even if you select the walking segment - this is in contrast to the old one which would focus on your current location in live time. This lead me away from a bus stop in an area I was unfamiliar with and left me stranded for another hour. The live location requires another tap to view which sums up many of my issues with this unintuitive and inaccessible new design. So many extra steps are introduced that feel unintuitive where the old design was quick and convenient which benefits a travel app. I don’t understand why it seeks to emulate Google maps when clicking a location, then ‘directions’, then inputting where from, THEN checking live departures is a lot more cumbersome than the old app which would automatically route you from where you were to where you want to go and had live departures visible on the route screen. The information is still there but the old app had it much more easily and instantly accessible and I don’t understand any benefits to these changes. It’s at least still usable and the service alerts are a good addition to the route screen but it’s so much more clunky and inconvenient to use. Please consider adding some of the accessibility of the old app back for ease of use.

It’s not as inuitive and user-friendly as the old app. You can’t save locations to plan frequent journeys factoring in walking time etc.

why did they need to change it? old UI was so much sleeker and easy to use and less bloated.

In the previous app you could tap take me home and instantly get told all your options. What an absolute faff of an app and not worth installing. Get google/Apple Maps instead

Clicking on a given stop only gives you a preview of the timetable for the next 90 minutes. It lacks a great option from the previous app - the ability to check the timetable in the longer term. Now you have to check it on the website by searching for a specific line first and then the stop. Not very convenient if you are not planning a specific route and just want to check the schedule. Often the app doesn't show me the bus on the live timetable, and then it turns out that it did arrive and I missed it.

Old app was miles better. It’s annoying that you have to search for the stop you are travelling from, whereas the previous app found your stop updated automatically based on your location. It’s harder to check the live bus times, it’s not listed automatically as it was before in the old app. I sadly deleted the old app in the hopes of refreshing as it was running a wee but slow!was disappointed to then learn I can’t get it back as old app. Whilst the old app was a wee bit slow, 10 times better. Wish I hadn’t deleted it 🥲 Makes me wonder if/who it was tested on, surely no one thinks it is an improvement?

WHERE ARE THE GOOD REVIEWS COMING FROM??? PLEASE REVIEW THE ACTUAL WRITTEN REVIEWS!! This is the worst upgrade to an app i’ve experienced. The previous one was brilliant. The last thing I need to know in BIG letters is the travel time. I NEED to know when the next bus arrives! The HOMEPAGE is useless. the old app immediately shows you the next buses around where you are. this one takes several steps to get to the same place. You have to tap EACH stop to get ANY information at all. It really really is a horrible step backwards for what was one of the best transport systems in the world. I am devastated that you think this is better. truly upsetting. please please please read some of the reviews and fix this for the residents of Edinburgh!

Click on the find me icon, next box is “where from”? Click on “saved” and it removes the saved place. This used to be a great app, easy to use and now it’s turned into a terrible user experience. Presumably no one did a user test and instead just updated the previous app based on what they thought was good ideas

The so called map and “plan” button that you click on does not exist on my app, no new downloads or updates. Wish I still had the old one
