Luxi FAQ
Is Luxi free?
Yes, Luxi is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Luxi legit?
🤔 The Luxi app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I constantly use it to check against the built-in SLR camera meter in tricky lighting situations.
The incident light Luxi dome is great to set lighting ratios.
The spot function (no Luxi) and an 18% gray card is great for getting accurate exposures.
If you still use film cameras, it’s an inexpensive addition to your gadget bag.
Doesn’t work
Bought the meter on amazon. Downloaded the app. Totally confusing after sitting with it for over an hour. Why is this so difficult? No wonder it only has 3 reviews.
Love the idea but app is unusable
After purchasing the luxi, the app frequently “flips” to the view telling you to attach the already attached luxi every few seconds making it impossible to calibrate
Nice
A simple app with a huge impact. Now I don’t need a separate light meter- I can use my phone.
No update?!?
Useless right now. Don't waste film, find another meter.
For example: f/4 @ ISO 3,200 (indoors around sunset on a cloudy day)...returns a shutter speed of 1/1000th to 1/1600th of a second.
100% Broken
Does not work with iOS9. Completely broken. Massively disappointing.
Nice app
Love this accessory and app. I work as a lighting designer and would love to see a mode that just lets me measure foot candles
Correction to my earlier review
New notes:
I figured out why the screen flipped. It saw an image, so it knew the Luxi dome wasn't attached. I guess that is a warning...
With the dome it appears to work.
Not sure why the f-stops don't match conventional values, but that should only be a minor annoyance.
I upgraded my review to 3 stars since it does seem to work. Would like traditional f-stops and quicker response to move the rating up.
Old review:
I love the idea - too bad it's not ready. The screen flipped constantly during my brief test. It's not usable yet.
👍👍
Kickstarter backer. Very useful for an amateur photographer like me. Very accurate as well!!!

This is a really great app and really great idea. It's very young in its development so there are some things I hope make enough sense to revise the app.
My biggest issue is I wish that locked exposure controls saved after you close and reopen the app. If I lock the shutter speed, ISO, and EV I feel like the should be same if I switch apps for a moment. My other issue that I have is seriously knit picky, but it would be super nice if the ISO wheel went the other direction. I understand the logic with them going in the direction of exposure changes, but it would make more sense to me if the wheel went up rather than down in value.
This app was concepted to have white balance, and tint measurements. When this app gets a little more mature it will be amazing, and earn five stars.
