Description

Magic Nikon ViewFinder presents you a precise framing preview for the real camera/lens combination you'll be shooting with, right where you stand with your iPhone / iPad. It simulates the field of view of Nikon digital cameras or lens and can help thousands of professionals in photography at the preproduction.
PLEASE READ: this app does not turn your Apple device into an external monitor, but operates as a stand-alone director's viewfinder.
The app contains ad banners, which can be turned off with additional in-app purchase (in 'About the App' menu).
The app is a digital directors viewfinder - it helps you see the exact field of view for your future shot. Select the camera from the menu and rotate the wheel to select the focal length of the lens.
Supported cameras:
- Nikon D4s, D5, Z7, Z6
- Nikon D750, D810, etc (marked as DXX0 in the app)
- Nikon D500
- Nikon D5600, D3400, D7500, etc (marked as DXX00 in the app)
Magic ViewFinder simulates using tele adapters or anamorphic optics on your camera (see menu). From the menu you can also select the aspect ratio of the frame guide overlaying your image.
Magic ViewFinder lets you apply color presets (aka LUTs) to the live picture, which brings you even closer to the final shot.
You may capture the image for future reference, with additional data like the focal length, date/time and camera / lens information.
While capturing, you may lock exposure and turn on/off AF to better control the captured picture.
You can turn on the AF mode, or lock the focus temporarily. You can also tap the live screen to focus on particular objects.
White balance may work in Auto, Locked or Manual mode.
If the field of view of your real camera is wider than your in-device camera, the app adds 'padding' around the image, since the device cannot 'see' what is beyond. It is the best solution that we developed.
Please note that position of your iPhone or iPad should correspond to the 'nodal point' of your real lens, which is somewhere in the middle of the lens. This point is, so to speak, the weighted center of the optics.
Ad policy: The ads are designed to appear non-intrusively. Ads can be turned off (see below).

To whom it may concern . This app looks like a solid app, one issue is that Nikon keeps on doing what they think people want since it runs in their culture there way of those thoughts. The D500 and D850 are not what you think they are especially the D500. In actuality it is the lens size out of the back of it which controls the amount of light that is imprinted on a sensor. That's why the tamron 10-24 mm f3.5 to 4.5 is a true dx lens . Especially designed for the D500

Great app from what I can see

October 20, 2018 Update I have now been using this app for three months and I have to say it’s been a great help for someone who knew nothing about using a DSLR. Their is still a lot I need to lean, but this has been a great help. But for a beginner it would be nice if you could set in a shutter speed and then your ipad would darken or brighten indicating if you are over exposed or underexposed. But the more you explore your camera settings and practice taking photo the more you will lean what shutter speed iso and aperture you need. Also I hope it’s ok to mention another app that has been a great help to me and it is called Cascable but it’s more of a remote and learning tool. It’s great if you want to use a tripod and long exposures. July 19, 2018 I’m new at photography and came across this app so I decided to give it a try. Still not sure what I’m doing. I have a Nikon D7100 and trying to learn how to use the camera other than in auto mode. But from what I can tell is, and I might be wrong but I set the app to dxxxx because i have a D7100 I put in the lens I’m using and it show me the depth of field and you put in how far you are from the subject you snap a picture on your iPhone and it saves that information on the photo so you can set your camera to the same settings. If you shoot a picture on your iPhone at 300mm its blurry but the one you take with the Nikon should be in focus. I’m just learning my camera so I will update after I use this app a little more. So far I think it’s a great learning tool.
