Chesscom bought play Magnus and Magnus trainer only to remove them from the App Store, and replace them with their own garbage. Congrats, chesscom, you managed to ruin something as valuable as the age old game of chess.
A step backward from the original Magnus Trainer app, which offered in-depth, helpful training without a lot of time-wasting graphics, dialogue boxes, and childish games only tangentially related to real-world chess applications.
Please explain how this app is better than the previous version.
The lessons are very useful well-organized. Before the update, when I need to learn something, I can just repeat some lessons for token and get the lesson I need after that. This partly means that I can learn them for free, and understandably, the devs cannot willingly happy with that. Now there are many lessons that I can’t get, partly because I’m a student and obviously I do not have a credit card or some thing like that. However, the devs are still nice that they still give me access to the lesson I’ve got previously. Thanks for that.
Paid about 20 dollars for the premium content when it was on a coin system. Would have been better if those who already paid got to keep purchased lessons
I was really enjoying this app until it stopped letting me advance to the next lesson despite completing the previous lessons. Tried deleting and reinstalling. Emailed support but did not receive a response. No trouble charging my credit card each month, though. That software seems to work fine.
Can’t even use the app...
Every graphic / effect / chessbord etc. is aim for very young childreen. This is of course ok but they should say it upfront that this is an app fir kids.
It’s unclear if the course tab and lessons tab show the same content or not. The UI is too colorful and childish. Purchases does not sync across devices… However, there is no other app that can compete with app.
