I have owned Mansions for a long time. I usually use the Steam app to play the game and stream it to a 65” TV at our game table. This is one of my absolute favorite games. I would love to see the app have a creator mode so fans could make content.
One of the best board game/story telling pairings ever to grace the board game world, the companion app for mansions of madness is amazing and you’ll have fun for hours.
We were excited to play but have found this app interaction to be frustrating. Some actions have no guidance hints and once a choice is made the game advances without the ability to redo. Very frustrating as new players. We got to the point of quitting the first session. Maybe we’ll start over and give it another go.
This is a great game and I love most everything about it. HOWEVER, of the 22 scenarios available to play, only 2 of them are a 2 difficulty level, and one of them requires an expansion purchase.
Range is defined with "range" everywhere. Such a bad game. Clearly no testing was done with people who didn’t know the game yet. The first scenario we get to the portal and the puzzle makes no sense and we die. Nothing in the whole house gives a clue what the puzzle means. I’m throwing this game away rather than selling so nobody else has to suffer through it.
The game $100, with four scenarios. This would be fine, except that it seems to have three functional scenarios. Escape from Innsmouth is flat out broken. You get one chance to interact with Agent Craven. Then he locks the door and you can’t check again once you have more information. This makes the scenario unwinnable. The game doesn‘t bother telling you this, but you’ve lost. If you do convince him he vanishes with barely any hint where he went. You can find him again, and present the evidence. But you then have to get back to him to let him know the boat has arrived, with nary any hint you need to until you get to the boat without him. So you pay $100 for three functional scenarios and also Escape from Innsmouth.
This is the app companion for the board game and is done very very well. A very Immersive game that requires very little amount of rules to learn and keep up with. This app will be your guide and will allow that one person who always get the job to “manage” the game to finally take a break and enjoy the game like the rest of the group does. I am the games manager for my group. I love this game. There is a good amount of expansions you can get to enhance the re-play. If you get the expansions you will play approx. 20+ games before you ever have to re-play a scenario. And when you do, the scenario will be played and managed differently by the app.
One issue was that the game glitched. It wouldn’t let us confirm the investigator phase. Well in matter of fact it wouldn’t let us confirm anything. Please fix this issue because we ended up not being able to save and just ended up losing all the progress we made.
Only 4 scenarios for the price and zero customization. For that price, you should at least be able to create your own scenarios to play.
