Manta - Manhwa, Comics, Novels

I subscribed before this monthly, but stopped because I got no time to read at the moment since I was too busy with my previous work. Now, I finally have a lot of spare times and decided to open this apps and subscribe again but, this time, annually. I thought that there will be some improvement on the browser or search bar but it's just the same. But it just gets worse, the main reason I decided to write this review, just noticed the GEM system after I paid for my annual subscription. At first I thought now that I have subscribed, there's no need to buy gems, and it only applies for the non-subscribers (like a lot of streaming platforms out there but for comics) but I was wrong. You still need to spend money to read even after you spend money to subscribe, this seriously feels like I'm being double charged. Honestly very dissatisfied and disappointed with this latest system. A lot of the completed series are in "gems only" as well, not "subscriptions only", and definitely not both, literally there's no point of doing subscriptions anymore if the subscribers still need to purchase gems. Like what do you mean I subscribe to read the comics but can't read the 200+ comics that are for GEM ONLY??? Honestly, I don't think I want to continue my subscription after this one ends or until you change the system. The main reason I, and a lot of other users used to like this comic app was because this was the first app that used the subscription method but now that it's no longer the same so there's no reason to use this apps anymore.

I have used this apps since few years back. But I unsubscribe because i want to focus on my degree study. Then after few months i downloaded it again, there much different than before. Before this its like one time purchase apps then you can read all of the comics. But now, mostly are by chapter purchase and much more expensive. For me, what make me choose this apps instead of others is mainly because of it’s one time subscription features which means once you subscribe, you can read all of the comics. But now this apps is just the same with the other apps. So sad.

I can’t read the comics even though i already uninstall and install the app. The page got pictures but when click the content inside blank. Cannot download also.

Edit: Changing my review due to the sudden change in the subscription system. I thought of renewing my sub to an annual one and boom - Manta decided to introduce gems. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. This on top of finding out about how novels are subjected under gems only (despite having been subscribed under “unlimited”) and cannot be read on the website despite already been bought, I’ve decided to cancel my sub. Perhaps i’d come back if Manta make changes again, but who knows. Just thoroughly disappointed. Edit 2: STILL with the gems i see. Changed to one star. I am also severely disappointed to see how rated content are locked behind gems. Stop giving the same copy paste replies. There are many things slowly trickling into “GEMS ONLY” category. We aren’t stupid.

I don't usually review an app but seeing the new Manta update made me speak out. First and foremost, a lot of Manta subscribers are monthly paid subscribers. Introducing gems feels like an exploit from the developers. We've (Monthly subscribers) already paid but need to spend more money if we want to keep the story, that's just micro-transactions. It takes away the joy of us, as existing subscribers from reading our beloved stories. That brings me to my second point, if Manta wants to use Gems then I suggest not having monthly subscription at all. I understand it's to support the authors but exploiting your subscribers ain't the way Manta. Figure out another option if you want your app to actually thrive. People read on Manta because you guys were the first comic app that actually offer monthly subscription, you guys were not like the others but seeing this new update, I feel like unsubscribing and I think I'm not the only one who feels that way. I hope Manta can take note on this & improve because I love Manta and I would hate it if the app shut down just because of this. Thank you.

I paid so I can download the manhuas and read them offline when I’m on my flight, but when I press on download, the screen just went black!

I like using this app. It is comfortable to use and I can say I love the way they did monthly subscription instead of coin purchases like most of manhwa applications. Unfortunately, this app kind of having not much choices of Manhwa. It will be better if Manta started to have more new manhwa. Other than that, this app already perfect in my point of view. So, I will still give it 5 stars.

Love this App so much but pls make an Auto Scrolling function. My hand hurt from swiping..Pleaseeeeee
