I’m taking a course in seamanship and this is a useful study aid but it needs to stop prompting me to review it every time I switch screens so I can actually get some studying done!

Marinus Lite
Haven’t perused the app very much but every time I do it asks for a rating and a review therefore so far I will give it a 3 out of 5. Also not keen on the portrait view.
Somewhat Useful
As a volunteer for a Marine Search and Rescue organization, I am always looking for apps that will help me and my crew when at sea. During our last training we were discussing new apps, and this one was mentioned. I've had a few days to review it, and I thought I would share my thoughts. 1. Nagging The first issue is that this app tends to nag you. With pop up notifications directing you to purchase the full app, ads, and missing information, I found it annoying to use the app. I downloaded the lite version for a reason, if I want the full app, I'll get it. 2. Lights aren't helpful Unless you're lucky enough to be a pilot with the Coast Guard, it is unlikely you'll be seeing boats from the top down. Many of the light patterns are designed to be seen from sea level, so presenting them in a top down orientation isn't useful...oh, but if you want to see them from another angle....of course, purchase the app. 3. Usefulness In all honesty as you go through the different sections, you'll find that you'll spend more time dismissing the popup asking you to purchase the full version than you will gaining information. So why not just purchase the full version? Well, the problem is that the full version is $12. Much of the information found in this app is taken directly from free sources online. For example, the Col Regs are found on the Transport Canada site for free. Charging $12 for information like this seems like a bit much. While I appreciate that everything is in one place, and presented in a easy to read way, if the full app was a reasonable price, it very well may become a welcome addition to our station. Unfortunately, the lite version doesn't offer enough information to be useful, the popups are annoying and time consuming at sea, and the full version is simply too expensive for the information provided.

Useful
As a Sea Cadet in the RCSC, it is a very useful app, however, the lite version is limited to 2/6 functions compared to the full version.
