Artist's Viewfinder assists the filmmaker or still photographer in exploring different places and angles to find the optimal placement for the camera, and to second-guess compositions. By simulating real camera and lens combinations it allows you to visualize what you are going to shoot without actually setting up the camera. And it's also a great tool to train yourself to see.

We designed the Mark II so that you could feel at home the moment you start working with it. And because it also saves high resolution photos, you can even use it as a regular camera.

Visualize the Grand Landscape

Paired with a 0.5x-class super-wide converter lens*, the Mark II becomes an indispensable tool for landscape and architecture photographers. The combination can simulate super-wide lenses up to around 16mm on the full-frame 35mm format. Or you can use it to compose super-wide stitched images. The Mark II even removes distortion present in the wide converter lens — in real time.

When There's No Need for Color

In black & white mode Artist's Viewfinder shows just the luminance information of the scene, making it easier to explore tonal structures and simulate what a black & white photograph will look like. Taking it a step further, the optional dark and neutral toolbar theme ensures that colors from the app doesn't interfere with your composition.

Unprecedented Simulation Flexibility

The Mark II leverages our extensive Viewfinder Camera Database, containing more than 800 still and motion picture cameras, 180 medium/large format backs and countless lenses — incorporating real lens data for ALPA, Hartblei, Hasselblad, Leica, Rodenstock, Schneider and Zeiss glass. And you can define your own cameras and lenses when you need something special for the job.

Does What Optical Viewfinders Can't Even Dream Of

Artist's Viewfinder stores location and simulation metadata with the pictures, allowing you to evaluate results of a location scout later on your computer. Or you can send the information off to the rest of the crew or to a rental house, right from the app. It also records a standard GPX format track log, alleviating the need for a separate logging device.

Nearly Perfect

The only wish I would have: Color filter simulation for the B&W view. Maybe as a separate Fn button, or by long hold of the BW button (this would interfere with the current functionality), or let the menu always appear on tap, or on double tap. And maybe B&W film simulations (or custom color sensitivity settings), but I have to admit that this might be a bit complicated. But the app is already the perfect tool for large format photography, so 5 stars are a must.

DIE perfekte App um schnell die richtige Brennweite zu finden oder Bildausschnitt & Perspektive zu bestimmen. Die App besticht durch eine einfache & praxisnahe Bedienung sowie umfangreiche Möglichkeiten zur Voreinstellung. Man kann mehrere Kameras mit jeweils dazugehörigen Objektiven anlegen und per Schnell-Menü (Q) aufrufen. Per Doppel- oder Trippel-TIP lässt sich jeder Rahmen isoliert betrachten bzw. als Fenster darstellen. Ein beliebiger Swipe über das Display zeigt wieder alle eingestellten Rahmen. Der ZoomFinder (ZF, zu- oder abschaltbar) zeigt rechts oben im Bild die aktuelle per Zoom-Geste gezoomte Brennweite in Einer-Schritten. Schnelle Umschaltung auf Schwarzweiß-Darstellung möglich. Man kann übrigens jederzeit ein Foto von dem aktuellen Ausschnitt machen. Zusätzlich kann man sich ein ausführliches und sehr gut beschriebenes Handbuch (englisch) als PDF downloaden. Die App ist den Preis allemal wert - 100% Empfehlung! EIN TIPP: schaut Euch „Lightme“ (ein super Belichtungsmesser mit Kontrastmessung) „TrueDoF-Pro“ „pCAM Pro“ oder „PhotoPills“ an. Das sind keine Konkurrenzprodukte hierzu, aber ebenfalls sehr produktive Apps für Foto & Film :)

Great App!

A very useful app for people like me shooting with large format cameras. Best tool for location scouting and checking lenses. Only thing I miss is the possibility to write notes to a frame. If this is possible I rate for 6stars!

Das Handbuch beseitigt jegliche Zweifel

Beim ersten Blick auf den Preis habe ich nicht schlecht gestaunt. Aber ein Blick in das liebevoll geschriebene Handbuch hat alle Zweifel ausgeräumt. Es wurde an alles gedacht. Die App hält alles was es verspricht. Absolut lohnenswert. Hauptsächlich nutze ich es um "im vorbeigehen" zu schauen welche Brennweite welchen Bildausschnitt zur Folge hätte an meiner mFT Kamera. Und zwar auch Brennweiten die ich noch nicht besitze. Für Fans von Festbrennweiten absolut top!

Sehr zu empfehlen

Zusammen mit einem Weitwinkelconverter ein super Werkzeug. Zu empfehlen für jeden Großformatfotografen!

Works great and helps imagination

This app saves me from guesswork: ‚what focal length should I take, or does this view from here fit into my camera ...‘. With a view camera it would take me minutes, with this app I can see and decide within seconds, what to use. Interface is simple, straightforward and intuitive. Management of shots via dropbox looks ok, but I do not use dropbox. I like it and enjoy it a lot, I can walk around with my iPhone (like everybody else) and only if I decide to take a bigger picture I have to assemble my pieces.
