Visitors to Maribor beware - not what it seems
The app (which by the way can be switched to English by clicking on the gear icon labeled “Nastavitve” at lower right then going to “Jezik aplikacije”) lets you buy more than one single-ride ticket at once. What it doesn’t tell you (nowhere in the app) is that you can’t USE more than one ticket at once. I bought five single-ride tickets for myself and family only to be told by the driver upon boarding the bus and scanning the first ticket that I couldn’t use the remaining ones for my family. No choice but to try to scrape together our Euro coins and buy four more tickets (at a higher rate) for cash on the spot and waste the remaining tickets in the app as we won’t be back in Maribor before they expire. Pretty expensive 10-minute ride. I’m not necessarily objecting to the system (although I think it’s a bad one; what exactly is a family like ours, some of whose members don’t have their own phones or don’t have cellular access turned on, supposed to do?) I’m objecting to the app not warning users before they purchase multiple single-rode tickets that only one ticket can be used at a time. There is no indication whatsoever that this is how things work and no reason for visitors to Maribor to suspect that until they’ve already wasted their money.
