Works with federated timeline. Can add multiple accounts. Scrolling through posts is smooth and quick. No data collection or in app purchases. The only problem I have is when I comment on a post I’m not seeing it pop up until I go back to the post. Not a deal breaker considering its smooth functionality. Best app I’ve tried so far (even better than Metatext which seems to be on hiatus). Doubt there is a better app out there imo.
Just one problem
I love the app, but when I try to view users with the misskey.io net name their text shows up but the pictures don’t please fix that problem.
When problem is resolved the you will get five stars.
Better than Ivory
So the creators of ivory seem to be riding their own coattails and not fixing bugs that are glaring while small developers aren’t charging and make amazing apps like Mastoot. There’s several others that are great as well but I’ve landed on this one as a favorite. Think twice before spending money ($50 per YEAR for MacOS and iOS separately for Ivory because the greed just never ends) and support small developers and donate as you can. I don’t want this to become another monopoly and it seems those at the top as per usual are fine pulling the ladder up behind them. Support small developers. Amazing app.
The most Twitter-like client
I try other clients out, but I always come back to Mastoot. Many of us find some comfort in the way Twitter looked, and this client really bridges that gap. If you are coming over from that nightmare of a site, this should be the app you jump into first.
If I could make some recommendations, I would ask for a way to “quote tweet” toots via generating an image of the toot and the allowing text with the image embedded (Mammoth can do this, I think).
Also, and I find this to be an oversight on the dev team’s part, but favoriting and boosting need to be at the bottom of every toot, not hiding behind an ellipses submenu. These kinds of feedback are crucial to the entire network, and boosting should be front and center.
Even with those deficiencies, though, this is still a five star app. Stable. Nice looking. Simple.
Great work.
A great Mastodon client
I honestly have no issues with this. The UI is nice and looks like a native iOS app plus being able to change the icon and accent color is a good feature. Also it’s free
Almost perfect
When trying to pick a Mastodon client, I have to admit this one first jumped out at me because of how cute the icon is. But the reviews sold me on it, and I'm really pleased with this client. It's very straightforward and intuitively organized. It's easy to find whatever I want. The only feature requests I have are a character counter so I can tell how close I am to the limit instead of just guessing; and a way to access the extra emojis that are available in the browser version. (This second one is less of a big deal because you can manually insert them if you know the name of the emoji.) Overall I'm really happy with Mastoot and hope it continues to just get better and better!
Great app
I enjoy this app a lot. The only feature requests I have:
-The ability to read alt text (If this exists I cannot find it)
-Notification badge (the red circle saying I have messages)
Great app, definitely the best client I’ve used.
I’ve used 4 different Mastodon clients at this point, from the official Mastodon app, to Tootle, Mammoth, to Metatext and this is definitely the cleanest, easiest to use client so far.
Very well lashed out, easy to customize and makes all of the best features of Mastodon readily available. I love the option in the explore section to go to my local timeline or the federated feed, something many clients make difficult to navigate.
One thing I really need to see in the app is a hashtag button on the main keyboard when drafting a post. Having to navigate to my special characters menu when hashtagging is the only reason this review is at 4 stars instead of 5. I’ve submitted a feature request, so fingers crossed we’ll see this in an update soon.
Grate Mastodon client app
Just tried this out. Took a bit of exploration, about 20 minutes, but I already prefer this to the official app. Will update in a week or so, but definitely my favorite Mastodon app so far.
Almost Perfect
This app is in nearly every regard the best free fediverse client I've found for any platform, ever. It's elegant, it's pretty, it's intuitive, and it feels completely native. My only gripe is the lack of support for displaying animated emoji, and the lack of an emoji picker. The emoji picker I can at least understand not having, but animated emoji not animating is a bit frustrating. At the very least make them start moving again and this could be a very easy 5 stars for me.
