No way! This game adjusts to their understanding, mistakes are allowed and if they aren’t getting it they are gently given hints. He finds it engaging and genuinely enjoys figuring out the tasks. The approach to math and numbers are varied and he looks forward to each new puzzle that he gets to solve. This app is rewarding and fun and very interesting. He has been playing daily for two weeks now, he chooses this over YouTube and every single other game I purchased him. Even though he can’t read he is never lost or confused and best of all he does not need me to help navigate. This app is less than 6 dollars a month and is worth every penny, my 4 year old can do addition and subtraction and is now looking at multiplication with sheer joy. Mathmakers is different. Mathmakers is special. So many of the other apps, even the well regarded ones, seem to awkwardly shoehorn in uninspired educational content over unrelated mindless gameplay; in-game rewards become the incentive and the awkward educational content becomes the tedious task standing in the learner’s way. Mathmakers doesn’t do this. In Mathmakers the puzzle-based gameplay is the incentive. It’s so engaging that my daughters are asking me to play everyday. The mathematical concepts are integrated into the gameplay so subtly that I see my daughters intuitively mastering them without even realizing they’re learning. The skill progression is, so far, perfect to keep my daughters mastering progressively more difficult concepts without getting overly frustrated and giving up. It’s clear that a lot of thought and a deep appreciation for educational psychology went into this project.
