Description

Description
General
MathsBolt is a Maths App which aims to create colourful and engaging app games that let children explore and develop their Maths skills while having fun. Our games will allow children to discover a whole world of Maths, from counting to comparing numbers, identifying shapes and patterns, using measures and so much more.
Access/Login
The app will be accessible through a login QR code, which will record the player's scores and activity. Children can try out and build their skills independently through discovery learning, or be guided by a teacher or parent, who can set them challenges and track their progress.
Child Safety
I work as a Primary School teacher myself, and recognise how critical child safety and data protection are with any app. With that in mind, the only data we will be storing on the app is the player's username, preferences (language, curriculum etc.) and their high scores.
Personal Data
All other data will be stored on database with an accompanying website, MathsBolt.com, which is fully compliant with GDPR legislation. This will provide separate login details for a teacher/parent which will allow them to review a child's progress (consent will have to be provided by parents/guardians to set up any child on a school account).
Data Storage & Security
All data will be stored on Firebase real time database and users will have to sign into their profiles using Firebase authentication. This authentication consists of an email and password unique to each user. Schools, teachers and parents will be able to sign in using a conventional email and password. Students will access the app through a QR code that reads an encrypted email and password that is decrypted by the app. Users access to information on the database will be controlled through Firebase Security Rules and no sensitive information will be stored directly on the database. Schools will be able to access the profiles of their teachers, parents registered to the school and students registered to the school. Teachers will be able to access the students assigned to their class room. Parents will be able to access the profiles of their students. Students will only be allowed access to their own profile.
Subscription/Payment
The app will be available on a subscription based model, with a planned price of €6 per child for one year's access. The subscription will be renewable on an annual basis.
Advertising
There will be no advertising on the app and no links to third-party websites on the app.
Location
The app is being developed in Ireland and will be fully compliant with Irish law.
