Easy to use app with a few small glitches
I use this app to control 2 DAX88 matrix amplifiers installed in my home, serving 10 zones. The app is straightforward, unfussy, simple to set up and simple to use without losing any of the flexibility of directing any input to any zone. The naming of zones and inputs is very easy and choosing airplay as the input via the home network is as simple as picking any hard wired input. Other than naming there is no opportunity to customise. It copes reasonably well with there being two DAX 88 , each serving a different set of zones. Two problems with this: it would be nice to be able to see zones from each DAX88 on the same screen rather than having to toggle between the DAX devices first; and, on opening the app, the screen presented is not the one you last used, nor consistently one DAX88 or the other. Finally, the app is very sensitive to the way the wifi network is set up and also to the strength of the wifi signal near the phone running the app. This can result in bizarre situations where Airplay is happily streaming music ( from the same phone!) to one of the DAX88 while the app denies either of them exist! I eventually simplified my network and added some more mesh nodes to sort this problem. If it weren’t for its handling of the wifi connection, this would be 5 stars. I recently replaced a lot of old kit with the DAX88’s and the app is so, so much better than the custom built control app supplied by the old system installer.
