Best way to consume content on the internet

nyk1907 on

India

This app has changed the way I consume information be it video audio or text . The podcast transcription feature is really good and there’s just something about the UI when you read something on matter and then switch to some other platform doesn’t feel the same . You want to read everything on matter

I bought a new iPad for this app. I’m soon going to buy an iPhone for this app. It’s been that transformational. I wish it lives a long life.

Buggy

YouTube saves are not playing, twitter threads not parsing. It’s a premium app but there are bugs. Wonder what’s happening

Matter is awesome

Matter is a great app and it allows you to do a lot more than Instapaper and Reader app. It is technologically also very sophisticated.

Loved UX but parity pricing please

I have switched from Readwise reader to matter due to podcast and email integration but will appreciate parity pricing (speaking from India) as current pricing is based on US model.

Awesomeness that is not adorable

ValleyValhalla on

India

Have been using this app for a long time “until” it went premium. And premium which is not affordable. The price is too high for Indian region, not saying order region is justified to have the high price tag. Any relaxation would bring in more users. Have sent a mail to the team hope our voices are heard ✌️✌️ The one star down is for the price tag.

Initial Experiences with Matter (Subscriber version)

Harsh.M on

India

Based on matters reviews and features especially the sync to notes apps , I took the plunge of switching from raindrop.io to matter. However, my initial experiences with the app makes me rethink whether this decision was right. Here are the few disappointing aspects of the app which the developer should address right away - (1) Twitter threads - Matter claims to convert twitter threads to single page readable content. However, to my surprise every twitter thread that I saved was redirecting me to the website for viewing which defeats the purpose. And unlike raindrop.io you cannot highlight web content unless the text is parsed in reader mode. (This issue was shared in the in-app feedback option) (2) Incomplete Reader mode - Unfortunately, the matter claims to have strong parsing capabilities to convert into reader mode. However, the most basic websites were completely only partially converted into reader mode and again I had to go to the website to read the content. Once again defeating the purpose of a read it later app. This in my opinion is the most fatal issue in matter which needs to be addressed right away. (This issue was shared in the in-app feedback option - along with the link of the websites which were being partially parsed) (3) Highlight bug - The inbuilt highlight which claims to be intuitive is actually buggy. To illustrate, while you select text it automatically enables highlighter which highlights the content. But as soon as you scroll it’s gone. The workaround as of now that I could figure out was to actually select a word to enable the selector option which then gives options (copy , highlight etc.) and then highlight content. Once again defeating the purpose of a fluid highlighting feature. So far my initial experiences with matter have been very disappointing. For a steep subscription pricing in India, these elementary issues and bugs shouldn’t have arisen.
