I wrote this app to help me get home before dark while riding my bicycle. You can see at a glance how much time until sunset, and set notifications for when you are running out of sunlight. Your loved ones will no longer worry or complain.
Then I added everything solar but the kitchen sink, just for fun. Not only for your current location, you can monitor sunrise, noon, and sunset anywhere on Earth. You can compare locations, make movies, and generate reports comparing a location you select to places around the globe.
Check the distance to your location, the Equator, and the North or South Pole from anywhere on Earth.
Quick and easy for its headline purpose, but enough detail to satisfy almost any nerd.
Most of the USA is far enough north to have little sunlight in mid-winter, rapid changes in the amount of sunlight in spring and fall, and a glorious abundance in summer. You need this app to keep on top of all that.

Amazing!
I’ve been using this app for years and the 3.0 UI update made the app even more amazing! I highly recommend this app if you’re a photographer, astrophotographer, or just someone who likes the giant burning fireballs.
Steve has been constantly improving the app and has some great ideas in the pipeline. Thanks for building this incredible app.
Praise the sun!
Interface
Not a fan of the new interface. Love the data this app provides. It was all in one place, now it is spread out with duplications.
MAX Daylight is my favorite app
This app helps to get daylight alerts on your phone
Terrific!
I love this app - I’ve been checking this data online now and then, but having it on my phone and iPad in such a great format is awesome. It even has a solar graph chart that visualizes the sun’s current elevation, similar to one of Apple Watch’s faces - my favorite. Great job - many thanks!
Essential for the changing seasons
I spend a lot of time outside and this app is essential for knowing how many more hours I have left to play beach volleyball, when I’ll have light for a safe bike ride home, if I need to apply sunscreen etc. it comes with a great widget that I keep on my home screen.
Greetings
Hi Steve,
Just touching base. All is well here. How about you? Can you remember a time when you held an original Macintosh on your lap to take notes? I do. Well we’re losing a minute of evening daylight every day. Regards, Harold
Terrific!
I love this app - I’ve been checking this data online now and then, but having it on my phone and iPad in such a great format is awesome. There’s only thing that I miss - a solar graph chart that visualizes the sun’s current elevation, similar to one of Apple Watch’s faces. I hope the author would add it at some point. Great job - many thanks!
A Song of MAX Daylight
The nox was lit by lux of Luna
And ‘twas a nox most opportuna
To get an app full of fortuna;
Be home at sunset or yet sooner,
MAX Daylight is the app we speak
That does not squeak and does not leak.
Apologies to Carmen Possum.
Great app for outdoor photographers!
Especially for ones who live less than a mile away from a West Coast beach. The app is also a great alternative to the world clock.
