Alicia, an aspiring singer-songwriter, had a beautiful voice and knew she was talented enough to become an artist. She started looking for tools to help her make music but grew frustrated with the complicated software she found online, and found she was spending more time trying to find people to listen to her music than she put towards making it. She spent 3 years working on her dream before dropping it to pursue a more practical career in accounting.
One day after a particularly long day at work, she was humming to herself and had an idea for a song. She opened up the App Store and started looking for free music making tools. She found something called, mayk.it, the fastest way for anyone to make songs from their phone. Alicia figured she’d give it a shot. Surely it must be easier to make music now than it was 3 years ago. She downloaded the app, made her profile, and jumped into the studio. Alicia used the mayk.it apps beat list to find an upbeat, pop sound and was amazed to find out there was a notepad in the studio as well. It was almost like the app was made for her. She started recording, and made her first song in 10 minutes. And then her next one took her another 10. Before she knew it, she had spent an hour on the app and made 10 songs. Some were good, some were okay, but it was all very fun.
Alicia’s heart started racing. She felt alive for the first time in years. Not wanting to jynx herself, she put down her phone and walked away. A minute passed by and her phone started blowing up. Desert Bloom had liked her song. Then Johnny Cash Money. And then Chloe Parry. The likes started pouring in, and she was getting so much positive feedback, she felt overwhelmed with emotions and broke down, amazed by how fast this was all happening.
This was all made possible because she decided to follow her curiosity and not give up. 6 weeks later, an A&R was fumbling through the mayk.it app, found her song, and reached out to her via the IG handle she linked in her profile. A week later, she used the app to sell her song as an NFT, and uploaded it Spotify where it was getting thousands of streams per day.
