Attention players: The fatal error was fixed yesterday, after I wrote a very threatening letter to Oleg! It shouldn’t have to get to that at all. The update is available on the App Store. So, you may now lift the “embargo” on Magic City Detective, and purchase. So help me, if there is a fatal error or any QA issues in that game, don’t even ask what I plan to do next! This game had a mix of steampunk and sci-fi graphics, with a lot of high tech thrown in. The game was extremely lengthy, inclusive of the bonus adventure. The tasks were enjoyable to complete, and inventory usage had some innovative elements. The storyline was one of mass destruction, but at least it was not about an evil being stealing souls. There was a terrific variety of HO scenes, and a mini-game for every type of player. However, there were too many rotational ones for me, and they were repetitive. The touchscreen sensitivity was not too bad. The lack of collectible circles that indicate which type of the three you needed to collect (gel packs, little robots and books) were missing. In addition, we were burdened with the sales timer clock, which was a 2-hour clock. The sales timer clock subsequently popped up in every chapter. 😡 In addition, the cut-scenes failed to cover the entire gameplay interface, which was a major annoyance. I am rating it 2.5 stars because although it was a creative endeavor, there were too many problems. Without all the glitches it was a terrific game, and I would have rated it more highly. It was a unique genre as well, AI mixed with crime and fantasy. Domini still needs to improve their QA, by enhancing the touchscreen sensitivity further, removing that ubiquitous clock, and indicating collectible items. Note to Wicked Doll: Good for you! Everyone hates the sales timer clock, and now, with a fatal error, is furious with Domini for not repairing it immediately. When will people start complaining about the episodic format, I wonder? We need more CE games. Please write to Domini and complain about this repetitive and dull, not to mention expensive format. I can do a lot but not without help! Thanks, everyone!

Edit2: Not fixed. The entire image has expanded instead of contracted, and clickable elements are even farther off screen. When I hit hint button all I can see is edge of circle/halo but what needs clicking isn’t accessible. In Bonus game in room with Omnira, at top of stairs. The easy version w 3 elements. Solved. Moved vertically nearly off screen, something supposed to be at left. A fuse? But not visible or accessible. Edit: I was able to touch just near the arrow for returning to previous scene and click the last nut. The nut doesn’t show, but some edge was available to connect. So am no longer stuck, but the offset is still disconcerting. The aspect ratio is wrong. The image is too big for available screen space. The layers that have the dynamic motions don’t match layer below so things are happening offset. And finally, I am stopped by the last nut to collect in the scene with nuts wrenches and valves (lorekeeper’s library)…it’s behind the arrow for previous scene. No way around to skip to move forward. If two or more people were working on these graphics, one was on an Apple device and the other on a PC. Two different pixels sizes (something like that). So actions don’t line up and important things hidden behind static elements. Fan of these games!!! But this is the glitchiest have seen in quite a while. Please fix so am not left stranded. Thanks!

Update 3/7 - I would advise gamers to NOT PURCHASE this game until all glitches are corrected. Unable to complete due to glitch in bonus chapter. Game freezes on the bookcase puzzle and unable to move. I even reset the bonus chapter and same error occurs.

Got through 3 scenes in the bonus round then it wouldn’t go any further. Reloaded it and got the same result. I’m using an iPad and I would like to finish the game.

No “symphony” here

So, first of all, this story was NOT engaging at all. Yeah, I know - we aren’t supposed to expect great literature, but a reasonably well-written story shouldn’t be impossible to find. I felt nothing for these characters at all. Secondly, the bonus game was filled with glitches, and became unplayable after awhile. Let’s not forget the crazy way things flipped around if you happened to hit a spot on the screen! Pages whirling about, glitter, books, planets. A little of that goes a long way. Too much money for too little enjoyment. Do better.

The clock still ticks!

I’m just glad I didn’t actually *purchase* this game yet. It’s really sad to me that one of the best developers is stubbornly refusing to quit insulting their customers with a countdown clock to more games. It’s distracting, annoying, and totally unnecessary, because I already have most of their games. (the ones without that freaking clock) I still replay the non-ripoff Domini games, but what little hope I had for them not parsing the games out to get more money out of us, and losing that ridiculous clock fades yet again. Domini was my go-to game developer for years. Elephant Games are now my sure thing. SMH
