Have to drop a low score. It requires you to update now to iOS 17. It worked fine on iOS 15 on my past devices. Need to have some compatibility. Meshtastic programmers need to get it together!
The design of the iOS version for iPhone and iPad is vastly superior to that that I have used on android. However, there seems to be a bug in showing locations related to GPS. My location is typically a quarter to a half mile off of the true location shown on the map. Almost unusable if trying to use GPS. My location shown on my android devices is very accurate. So this is almost got to be an iOS bug.
So easy to read, navigate, and understand.
An EM Comms group I’m on recently began testing with various units, but what we’re finding is that the iOS app is the weak link. It keeps removing/resetting channel key information, thereby rendering the iOS units off-network. Those units attached to Android devices are working fine. Are others having this similar issue? This has been widespread across our (fairly large) team.
The Meshtastic App for iPhone looks so much better than the Android version, but fails in one area, WiFi. The Apple version only works with a Bluetooth connection, but the Android version works with both WiFi and Bluetooth. This is a huge disadvantage when trying to access a remote node. Other than that one thing, the app works great.
Love the app and the technology. But if you want wider and faster adoption of Meshtastic you need to have a “easy/simple” mode switch in the settings menu for beginner/non techie users. This switch would eliminate the majority of the complex settings and configure everything for the common/standard settings. The entry level users would only choose their user name and what country they are in. That’s it. Only then will Meshtastic ever have a chance at truly competing with FRS/GMRS for every day joe users.
Overall pretty awesome! It would be nice to be able to IP to the node like on android. But perhaps Apple prevents this. Also there seems to be a problem with DM’s not showing up. And the node that DM’s me is in the node list but not in the contacts list. I would like to say bravo to the Meshtastic team! Well done! This will come in quite handy here in Florida!
Works fine. Needs an option to turn off the annoying tips that started showing up a couple releases back.
it’s impossible to scroll through new messages without the app screeching to a halt
