Milkmaid of the Milky Way Reviews
Good not great
Eight dollars a is a hefty price
A bit more game would have been nice
The art is good and animation sweet
This retro app is quite a treat
The thing that really loses stars
The thing that really went too far
As you can tell from this review
The constant rhyming really gets to you!
Good but not long enough
Engaging storyline and visuals. But the puzzles are fairly straightforward, apart from the end, and it's way too short for the price (less than 2 hours of playtime for me). I spent most of my time in getting from one area to another and back again.
Milkmaid of the Milkyway
Loved it! Retro flashback to my favourite 'Leisure suit Larry' game in 1990. Simple, relaxing (no timer/ time limit) yet mildly challenging. Patience and exploration will solve it all you can't make a mistake. Great sounds and visuals, original concept. Great chill out game.
Very good. Very good indeed
Some of the later puzzles are not logical. But overall the story, pixel art and style were brilliant. Highly recommend.
An inspiring game
The jagged edges of the great pixel art against the soft, imperfect hand painted backgrounds is a great visual style. The story book feel of all the rhyming provides for a satisfying adventure with mostly logical puzzles. It all played well on my phone during my daily commute. Hats off to Machineboy on this impressive solo effort, very inspiring.
Cute indie point click adventure
Nicely done for just a one-person developer. Love the rhymes in all the dialogues and the music.
Original and excellent
Yes it’s got some hiccups here and there, but considering ONE guy did the whole thing, languages and all, it’s beyond impressive. The nitpicky reviewers should be ashamed of themselves; they’re putting big money game studio expectations on a one man band. I loved it, and thought the price was generous.
If the critics have a better game that they made by themselves, I’d love to see it. Since they don’t, I wish they’d think for a minute about what went into this, and perhaps realize that the creator had no financial incentive whatsoever to do all that work that they so readily dump on. Indie efforts like this should be lauded for the 99% that’s great, not berated for everything less than perfect.
Really not very good, sadly
I don‘t have a problem in general how short it is. Only that most of the time is spent running around. But there are more problems. First, navigation is absolutely horrible. You never know where you can go and where not. I spent a lot of time in the beginning because of this and I just could not find the salt. Second, while the idea of the rhymes is novel, most of them are so, SO bad, like written by 7 year olds or autotranslated from another language. The artstyle is often very crude as well. I am a big fan of point and click adventures and played all the classics. Some of them multiple times. I really wanted to like it, but honestly I am happy to have finished it and very likely won‘t touch it ever again.
Fun but short
Very fun game with good puzzles, but for this price I would expect it to take longer to complete
Fabulous game but a few bad spots for movement
I’m an adventure gamer from the old days, so this hit the spot, perfect. Just one complaint: it’s too difficult to make some of the simplest moves that are required. Like for the life of me I cannot walk past the barn to the left most of the time when I try. Why is it so difficult?!?! So frustrating.
