Used it for years… now subscription
I used it for so many years and loved it. It was a one time pay with paid upgrades for each new major version like software should be. Then they went the subscription route.

While it’s generally beautiful and functional to use, there’s alot that this mind map app could do better. The Good: - The task experience. I love the way the progress meters roll up or down when adding on additional tasks or breaking ones down into smaller steps. - Tagging: I like how you can lay everything out. Then tag things by priority, and then hide lower priority items until you can get to them. Very intuitive and smart. - Great on mobile and tablets: the app is just as easy and fast to use on iOS as on the mac. There’s a lot more good things to point out, but those 3 stand out the most to me when comparing with other mind mapping apps. The Bad: - The app handles any styling changes very poorly. I don’t know how this still remains unfixed after so many years. If I want to bold the text for just one node, this does not mean I want to bold the text for every other node I create after that. Yet the app interprets this as what I want to do. This should be a setting you can turn off, but there’s so little in the way of settings you can alter in this app. - Hierarchical themes. While it’s great that they finally developed hierarchical themes, it seems like they chose an entirely different designer for them, because they’re not beautiful like the standard non-hierarchical themes. Weird font and colour choices. You also can’t create your own personal hierarchical themes. When you try to save them, they get saved as non-hierarchical themes, which is disappointing. - Poor communication by dev team. Despite paying for a subscription, there’s next to no info you can find about what in’s progress for the app in terms of when fixes, customisation options, or new features are coming out. All the sudden there will be a (rare) update, but no advance notice. Oftentimes your saved themes get wiped out in the process, and you have to re-add them after. Would be great if their team communicated with their users better by posting on twitter or on their blog about what they’re working on. - Subpar support team. Ever run across those helpless support teams where every answer assumes you’re absolutely clueless? User: “I would like the app to stop inheriting bold or italic text for every node I create after I bold or italicise one node. Is there a way to stop this?” Support: “You can choose the text styling in the styling panel.” User: ……. (Where do I even go from here?)
It’s easy and intuitive to use and the end result looks very good as well. Best mind mapping app for iOS and mac that I’ve tried.
Very simple to use mind mapping tool. Works well across Mac and iPhone. It’s great for capturing some quick ideas in your existing mind maps on the iPhone.
I’m a Product Manager but either technically challenged or the app isn’t intuitive. Without buying the subscription I can’t even see how to edit and add nodes to a thought. Very weird and what looked good quickly caused me disappointment. Sorry but you lost me
I have a super busy mind and this app is great for organising my thoughts and getting them out of my head! I use it for business and home. Fantastic communication tool for new projects.
Really helps me break down school assessments and study and helps me collect my thoughts. Would love some of the premium features to be free though but I don’t mind that much it’s still great to use and simple.
Really good. One of the best mind mappers.
I love MindNode ... I tried a few Mindmap apps now (some fully feature, others just stayed in the basic tool before making the decision); it is one of the easiest Mindmap tool to use. Some suggestion: 1) Can you please enable the node folding and expanding from when we click the map instead going to the option “...” 2) To allow default title to be the whatever text we entered in centre node (when we create new mindmap). Thank you.
The basic version is pretty good, the the customizability of the paid version feels worth it to me. I definitely recommend the app (I have the desktop version which is great as well).
