Accessibility issues which are now legal challenges under title II of the ADA
The ads hinder the reading experience for blind and DeafBlind users. Many buttons aren't labeled appropriately, just to name one thing. Apple has many resources available for developers on how to make their apps work with accessibility options for those with disabilities, but clearly mLive has no interest in supporting these users who also have money they could spend on "premium content". Most importantly to everyone is that paying for a premium subscription will not remove the ads. You are only paying for the articles they feel are premium-worthy. I understand ads generate revenue, but what about the revenue generated from someone supporting you financially? Could you consider supporting them by removing this junk? Especially since I can't get the content I've paid for?
you can't remove ads for subscribers, really?
While I appreciate that Michigan has a news app, I don't appreciate having to deal with the same advertising as a free user. I purchased a yearly subscription thinking it would get rid of these and it's ok I guess, since I purchased it at a discount, but have already canceled my subscription so it will not renew. Quite disappointing, especially since as a VoiceOver screenreader user the ads take me away from what I'm reading sometimes. fine for free, but NOT if I'm supporting you. Shouldn't the same favor be returned to me? Shouldn't I be able to access the content I paid for ad-free? Nice coverage, craptastic implementation of the app complete with accessibility issues.
Custom Alerts Not Working!
I am not getting my custom alerts! Please fix ASAP!
Drowning in subscriptions
I have used the mlive app for many years. It’s a good app but there are now so many articles behind the paywall I don’t find much I can read. The free stuff is just Dear Abbey and “how to watch” some tv show. So….not actual news. I could subscribe to see the news articles but my budget isn’t without it’s limits. Sadly, I am deleting the app 👋
Too many articles need subscription.
This use to be a good app until the majority of current articles can only be viewed through a paid subscription. If ads are needed to generate revenue, so be it. Asking readers to pay now is just greedy! I’ll keep the app to read the occasional “free” article or until it becomes fully subscription based.
To many stories are subscription only
Use to love this app. But recently over 70% of the stories are subscription only. I’m deleting the app and will find a new one.
Also the price is $49/yr. Not happening here
App needs work
Great coverage but scrolling through photo galleries manually has been broken for months as of 3-2024.
Nonsensical Organization
Story grouping and organization doesn’t make much sense. Interspersion of “Dear Abby” type columns with news articles is dumb. Regional story selection doesn’t work well, still showing stories from around the state. And making ads appear the same as stories is incredibly annoying.
Annoying
Download this app if you want constant peddling on how oppressed alphabet mafia people are.
Nope, just nope
Unless you enjoy reading adds designed to look like news, pass on this app. I understand the need for advertisers but this app just bombards you with addvernews. Makes the real news article look like an add. Forget this one or you will find yourself immersed in a news article on how to prevent toenail fungus by shopping at Walmart.
