MOBOTIX

Mobotix like to boast they are a software company that happens to make hardware, which would come as a surprise to the uninitiated, as the hardware is so solid and the software so poor. This app suffers from being unintuitive and buggy, often requiring the repeated input of the same information. There is a user guide available from their website, but it is basic and suffers from what I assume is poor translation from the original German, so often is incomprehensible. It is a shame because there are some interesting ideas at work in places, but the UI really lets it down.

In other words, unadulterated garbage. Unusable, diabolical UI that makes no sense whatsoever... which is something you'll be all too familiar with if you've had the misfortune of using a Mobotix camera's web UI or their equally terrible MX range of duff-ware.

Horrific user interface design with poor choice of icons, poor workflow design & buggy & unreliable software. Design team, please revisit the use-cases. Customer adds door station and how to simply configure notifications. What the app does well is allow viewing of Mobotix cameras. I have 4. That all works fine (if a little awkwardly). What the app does extremely poorly is (for example) integrate with a T25 Door Station. The T25 itself is a nightmare to set up (I'm a professional software developer with two degrees & 30 years experience). The T25 internal web browser config is highly unintuitive (why does my iPhone show up automatically as an event stream (why is there no "search for new devices" button?). How do I manually configure an event stream device? Do I need to? I can only see how to add an iPhone manually as an "IP Notify" device). The T25 shows up in the app, but sometimes I get a notification that I've pressed the door bell and sometimes I don't (that happens in both MXEasy & the iPhone app). I'm still trying to figure out why the iPhone only vibrates, and doesn't ring (yes I've checked the ringer volume and mute switch)... Highly frustrating. More work required.

In design and usability.

The app has great potential, but the user interface is dire.

This is an awful application, badly designed with a total disregard for Apple UI guidelines. It hangs every time at startup requiring deletion of the connection detail and then restarting. Mobotix totally ignores support emails ( nothing new here ) and their forum is useless and not used by any Mobotix support staff. I can find no one interested in helping users with this app. Use QuickCam Pro rather than this rubbish. Mobotix, you need to start listening to and supporting your customers ... your technical lead has gone and so will your customers unless you pay them some courtesy and attention.

If I could give this zero stars I would. We waited years for this and it looks like its been designed by a committee who have no idea about interfaces or usability. I don't know how Apple let this on the store because it doesn't look like an Apple app or follow normal conventions. Take a look at how you change brightness/contrast etc. Modals buttons.. Yuk. Half of them say 'not working yet'. I expected Mobotix to pull something special off considering how long they have been sandbagging and this is it? Oh dear Mobotix. I love your cameras and have quite a few but this 'app' is an embarrassment. There are cheap third party ones (even with MxPeg support) that are light years better than this 'thing'. You sandbagged over the T24, analytics and now this. Not a good sign. There was a time when your cameras were the market leader but the competition hasn't just caught up; they are leaving you for dust. Why not just beef up the CPU on your cameras and actually make decent frame rates? Anyone with a '24 knows you can't get what is claimed unless you drop the quality significantly. And the 3mp isn't any 'better' than 'mega'.... You need to get your act together because your loyal customers, like me, have other options these days and looking at switching.
