Staple in practice

This and guitar Gym are my go to when practicing my technique. Mastery of the basics is key and this helps practice on the key techniques and theory in a simple and neat way.

Absolutely helpful

I was looking for excercises to improve my technique and precision. This apps is helping me fulfilling my objectives.

Glossy finish but lacks substance.

Really not worth 13.99. The free exercises on his website are virtually identical. The graphic of the fretboard with a blue dot whizzing over it is quite simply horrendous. For the money I've paid this really does need major updates with new content.

Decent, but I hope more content is added.

I have been a fan of Martin's teaching for a while and collected many of his lessons from magazines such Guitar Techniques and his website. Whilst this app has many excellent features (the interface and tools for example), I hope more content is added at a later date - maybe some backing tracks and complete solos like the ones demonstrated in the YouTube video to advertise the app.

Fantastic app

This app has done more to improve my technique than many hours of guitar lessons. Recommended for guitar lovers with some personal discipline - you still need to sit down and practise the exercises daily etc... Martin Goulding is a fantastic teacher and the app reflects his teaching philosophy.

I ENJOY practising with this app!

What Martin has done here is to encapsulate years of experience teaching rock guitar into a wide-ranging and well-organised app. The Theory section, with its explanation of of modes and scales is the best I have ever seen (and trust me, I’ve seen loads of them). The beautifully clear fretboard diagrams and scale generators illustrate everything perfectly. Another great feature is the option to put together your own ‘Practice Routine’. I am really ill-disciplined, but I now look forward to challenging myself every day to try and get the exercises and licks perfect, and to improve my speed and accuracy. You can choose to play along with just a metronome, a guitar track or a full backing track - whichever you find helps you best. This has been a great investment for me.

Invaluable!

I bought this app because I have been in bands with 2 of martins students in the past and both are phenomenal players themselves. This app costs less than half the price of an hour with Martin privately, yet there are hundreds of hours of knowledge in this. It's not just for rock guitar either, the sheer amount of content on modes and scales is enough to make this an essential learning and practice aid for anyone wanting to have a better understanding of what they're doing on a guitar. Put that together with all the licks, amazing practice routines, backing tracks and the easy to see fretboards, tabs and demonstrations and you get everything you need to take your practice to the next level. I especially like the ability to slow down and speed up the licks so that I can mark my progress as I play along. Even at 4 times the price this app would be fantastic value. Learn from one of the best guitarists and teachers out there!

Awesome

This is a fantastic app. It offers a structured way to progressively build your modern rock guitar abilities up to the levels of the top technical players of today and - of course, the 80's. Anyone who want to get their playing abilities up to scratch should buy this. Martin is a jaw dropping player, and everything is taight very clearly with excellent advise on how to practice and develop your technique correctly.

The best out there

6000 words isn't nearly enough to say how happy I am with this app. Martin is a fantastic teacher with a very thorough approach to rock technique and it's incredible to see his legendary teaching method brought up to date in app form. From the looping tools, metronomes and even vibrato on the MIDI, every little detail of Martin's style has been expertly displayed here for all to see. Finally there's a comprehensive look at modern rock technique out there for the modern shredder. If you want to learn to play like the best, then learn from the best. Buy this app.
