Will they make a squared paper notebook?
Was quite skeptical of how useful this would be. Can only say, I love it and now only hope they develop a square paper notebook and add something that can keep the pen with the notebook….

It works fine in general but when I add a new event on the calendar it keeps re-adding all other event I already created and saved. So I have multiple entries for the same event… Sometimes it just uploads events merging different notes that all goes to my calendar without any sense… and on top of that the app clashes so I can’t remove the wrong events (and even if I do, they all remain visible and it’s quite confusing what has been uploaded or not)
I had a Moleskine account on my Samsung and this worked well. On my iPhone I can’t login to my account, create a new one or restore my backups. A number of emails with the support (who are responsive) have not been able to come up with any solutions. Therefore, unfortunately, my pen and books are next to useless with my new phone.
I’ve used the smart system for a year or more. Today, it crashes as soon as the pen connects/transfers. I’ve submitted 2 bug reports. Other background apps were closed and the Notes app was restarted. iPhone 15. Please help.
Worked fine on first transfer to new app. Really good transcription… THEN, yesterday amd today became virtually unresponsive. Can’t use in this current state. Used this for years, now I’m stuck
Firstly I bought this primarily to transcribe notes. I am an author but still find ideas come easier with a pen than a blank screen. I was actually quite amazed how few typing mistakes it makes transcribing my scruffy writing! However, whilst it uploads multiple pages in text format correctly, the Word upload of multiple pages is rubbish. It gets the order wrong and duplicates pages. The other consideration with text is that you get a line feed at the end of every line in your notebook. This can make reformatting into a word document a pain. However , I found a workaround. When writing my notes, I write hash symbol (#) every time I want a line break in the final document, I then upload text and cut and paste into Word. It takes seconds. Within Word, I replace every line break with a space and then every hash symbol with a paragraph mark again this takes seconds. I then tried drawings. These you can export as jpg and png with and without the background lines but you can also export vectors. This is particularly useful as in an another package, I can then scale the drawing to whatever size I like. It is also easier to edit it as discovered that every time I lift the pen, it leaves an editable line. I was so impressed with this feature that I’ve gone ahead and bought a plain notebook purely for drawings. I should also add, when I bought my plain notebook, I bought a second lined one simply to save on postage cost and you do have to suss out how to have two notebooks on the go at the same time within the app, otherwise you will get in a horrible muddle, but it’s not that difficult. You archive one before starting on the other and then archive that if you want to revert to the one you were using originally. I don’t think you can realistically expect to be able to produce a finished document in your notebook and not have to edit it somewhere else afterwards. As long as you accept this proviso then for transcribing handwriting and uploading a rough diagram, then this is proving to be extremely useful to me. Had the Word upload worked, I would probably have given it five stars.
Had this as a gift last year and have used it quite extensively now. Initially I was quite excited at the idea of being able to continue note taking in the old fashioned way, but still have the ability to search back for things and access all my notes on the move. Generally I find the character recognition to be fairly poor though, which in turn limits the app’s ability to search for key words etc. You can export text to Word, but as well as the limited character recognition resulting in some sporadic hieroglyphics, only one page of your book can be exported at a time, so creating a Word version of meeting notes over several pages of your book is fiddly. It’s more fiddly because you have to do it all in a phone app - there’s no desktop companion or even a web portal. Syncing between pen and phone is quite slow and has definitely become more error prone over time. I’ve now reached a point with it where basically it won’t sync at all. Moleskine books aren’t all that cheap (smart versions even less so) and spares such as ink refills are expensive and weren’t in stock for quite a while. The delivery fees they charge on top of their prices is simply daylight robbery - especially given the time it then takes for things to arrive. Unlike ReMarkable or an iPad, this product gets actually more expensive the more you use it. Overall, it’s a nice idea and could be fixed, but I haven’t benefited from any obvious further development in the year I’ve been using the product, so I’m not so confident that it will be fixed.
In trying to transfer from the old app (which I had not used for a long time because of illness) all of my data disappeared. Using the pen did not register a notebook on the new app either. I then opened a new account, which I have checked has connected with the pen but still does not show notebook when I write in it!!!!!!
I had high expectations for this product as I am very keen to keep on handwriting whilst benefiting from the advantages of a digital tool such as convenience to file, search and organize. Unfortunately, Moleskine is falling extremely short. The app needs to be consistently on for your rating to be recorded, the synchronisation between devices is totally unreliable (meaning I am still unable to see all my pages on either my phone or my ipad since I used the app alternatively on both devices) and the filing process is not helpful (you would want the ability to create a file by set of notes as opposed to by page number from the notebook). Overall not what I expected nor what is expected from a GBP200 productivity tool.
I am not sure this app is working with ios17. It isn’t possible to connect to a calendar and the notes app does not show in settings - privacy and security. I have other moleskine apps and they do show. Have contacted support by email with log file but no response. Quite frustrating.
