Why not sort out connection issues before building an entire app

im525373 on

So many connection issues always with Sony. Docs are unclear. Simple Bluetooth and WiFi connections don’t work half the time. Followed instructions for Bluetooth and getting a power error which makes sense. Followed instructions for Wifi and not showing up.

USB File Access Issue

Chris.O. on

United Kingdom

Generally a fine app, was severely needing USB option due to the poor WiFi performance on the cameras. Excited to hear it has been added, but on my iPhone 15 Pro Max it won’t work because I am unable to grant permissions to the app. I assumed it was my phone and reset all the iPhone settings, and it still didn’t work. Now I need to set my whole phone back up how I like it. Oops. The app keeps asking, but I can’t approve. It doesn’t even appear in the iPhone settings for me to turn on file access permissions.

Doesn't work via USB

luizguitar on

With A7R-V (firmware 3 of course), you can connect via wi-fi, which is laggy, but via USB it keeps asking permission to access Files and Folder, you grant permission, it asks again and again in loop. If you go the Privacy and Security tab in Settings, M&C is not there. I know it detects the camera because once I connect the USB cable and pick "Remote Shooting" in the list, the popup asking permission immediately shows up, but it doesn't matter, tapping ok keeps the app in this annoying loop. It's a promising app, but not there yet.

This App Could Be Great

Biggggz on

So I’ve not used this app on set yet, but I plan to this coming week. I’ve spent the last few hours painstakingly trying to connect my A7siii and A7RV for multicam monitoring. One camer connected but the other wouldn’t. This was despite completing firmware updates on both cameras, my iPad and the app itself. It turns out that you need to enable PC Remote on both cameras. I wish this was made clear, as not having this feature on means you won’t be able to connect the camera(s) to the app for multicam. Once I got it going, I was able use the app as intended. If all goes well on my shoot then I will leave this update as is. If not, then I’ll come back and update accordingly.

Waiting for A7IV

Ebkuk on

Sony the photo in the App Store is the only reference I can find anywhere that shows the app is going to include the the A7IV at a later date, waiting patiently! Will there be firmware to support it ?

It’s connects…. But

grigg.crafts on

Would happily pay for this app if it was more stable.. it will connect but the multi-camera features will not, tried to re-install a few times and no luck. I have had problems with this app in the past but my patience is getting thinner every time I open this

Unusable

OLLIIS on

United Kingdom

I’ve spent the last three days trying to get this app to work but to no avail. This was a complete waste of time. Nothing will connect, no matter over wifi, Bluetooth, nothing. Sony, if you want to make apps, make them paid and usable, not unpaid and unusable. Look at RED or ARRIs camera control apps. I would happily pay for this app to work. But it doesn’t, it falls at the first hurdle. Don’t believe what the Filmmaking Gear YouTubers tell you. This app is a waste of time.

Metering Mode value

1nthedark on

United States

Why isn’t the MM value number on the app? for those of us that shoot in SLog 3 that doesn’t want to keep looking on the small screen on the camera.

Where is the focus peaking?!

xvander on

United States

This app needs two things and I will come back and amend my review to 5 star. Focus peaking and audio meters. This is unusable without focus peaking, deal breaker
