Downloaded Monument Valley tour beforehand . About 10% of it worked in actual tour due to mapping features. Doesn’t work offline without WiFi which doesn’t exist in middle of desert. Had to restart 20 times. Info that did work was interesting but not worth hassle factor for money
It only works correctly if you start in Mexcision Hat and drive south. it cuts off and is hard to get back started.
Even beautiful landscapes can start to seem repetitive after a few hours, so it was nice to have this “tour guide” in the car with us giving us some additional context and fun stories. Also, much more cost effective than the reservation’s tour companies!
Without this App, I would have driven through the valley and enjoyed the views but would have not learnt so much! Having a narrator point out stuff made the whole drive very enjoyable.. like going on a private tour!
Amazing area. I was glad we downloaded this app. If not, we would have missed many viewpoints.
You basically just start the full tour, plug the phone into your car, and drive around per the directions. The audio starts by itself which is very useful. The landscape is absolutely astounding so having a little context about it (and around it) is great. Excellent value and a nice narration voice. A few notes.... you may be approaching from the south (Arizona side) in which case you want to manually play the stops which are outside MV. The tour assumes you’re arriving from the north (Utah side) but it won’t be a big deal if you’re not. Also keep in mind that the Navajo Nation can choose to close MV at any time so read up before you go. It’s not a National Park, it’s reservation land. The tour needs you to drive at the speed limit for it to work properly without one story getting cut off by the next one. Just be sure to download it ahead of time because signal and wifi are VERY spotty. Overall good value!
